Definitions
- the present invention relates- to- a system to optimize the air-conditioning of an automobile.
- the present invention relates to an optimized system of identifying the number of users (passengers) , positioning of ducts and vents and creating partitions within the automobile which can be recoiled without substantially adversely affecting the aesthetic feature-of the automobile interior finish.
- An automobile air conditioner of a type installed inside the compartments of an automobile body structure is well known in the art. It has been observed that there is a majox problem within car air-conditioning system (commonly known as an automobile conditioner / blower and warmer) . ⁇ The problem is that while the ignition of the automobile is not switched on the vehicle "keeps on getting wa-rmer " due to green house effect. Therefore the temperature of the vehicle becomes more than the- normal outside temperature. When the ignition is finally switched .on the car air conditioning system starts working. There is a general understanding that the air conditioning is meant to- provide comfort to the user (passenger) while on move, it has been further- observed that the duration of travel of__the_ user of the vehicle while traveling intercity varies depending on the travel time and distance.
- the present air-conditioning systems available with the automobiles usually have ducts at the front near the " dashboard to throw forced air of air-conditioner or warmer or blower. Once the car is started air-conditioner (or warmer as per environmental conditions) is switched on the conditioned air starts circulating throughout the internal volume of the vehicle to bring it to adequate temperature condition. It is observed that usually in a vehicle such as passenger cars, sports utility vehicle luxury sedan only one person is in the running vehi-cle . The vehicles are hardly occupied fully. However, the air-conditioner/warmer conditions the whole air inside the vehicle which takes a long time due- to ; its sheer volume, which is very inconvenient- in very hot and very cold days (outer environment depending on weather conditions) .
- the air-conditioner/ warmer changes the effective temperature of large voJLume of air even for a single driver or two passengers, it affects, the-., -fuel efficiency of the vehicle and consequently pollutes -more..
- the present system is also not. comfortable for one or two passenger in a- vehicle like car, sports utility vehicle or luxury sedan.
- the present invention is therefore intended to provide an improved system to optimize the air-conditioning of an automobile .
- the primary object of this invention is to obviate the above drawbacks by providing an improved "System and method to optimize the air conditioning of an automobile.”
- Yet another object, of the instant invention is to reduce fuel usage and consumption of the automobile.
- Yet another object of the instant invention is to reduce burning of carbon fuels and help in reducing the menace of global warming.
- Yet another object of the instant invention is to increase the comfort level of. the users (passengers) of an automobile by optimizing the conditioned air flow.
- Yet another object of the instant invention is to propose a system that automatically detects the number of users present in an automobile for optimized air-conditioning of the automobile- compartments .
- Yet another object of the instant invention is to propose a system that that configures the vents and the partitions in a manner that the users get optimal benefit .
- Yet -another Object of the instant invention is to propose -a- system that is cost efficient and easy to implement.
- this invention provides a system and method to optimize the air conditioning of an automobile for an automobile " comprising:
- the " invention further provides : the partition to be along length or .along the breadth or combination thereof.
- said partition does not obstruct the viewing through a rear view mirror.
- the said automobile comprises an electronic device for rear viewing, the said partition being transparent , translucent or opaque.
- configurable plurality of vent which are optionally routed from the roof or pillars of the automobile.
- configurable plurality of ducts which are optionally also located at the roof or pillars of the automobile.
- the ducts and vents can be further rearranged in case of partition along the length or breadth or combination thereof.
- said partition specially structured to sustain recurring use.
- said partition is a flexible partition preferably made of a elastic or like material, wherein said material configured in manner so as , not to restrict visibility. wherein unwinding of said partition is actuated once the ,air conditioner is stopped and the partition winds automatically.
- a system further comprising detecting means to detect number of persons inside an automobile and selectively deciding to optimize the -air circulation ..
- Fig.. 1 illustrates the cross-sectional side- view of system and method to enhance the air conditioning of an automobile according to the present invention
- Fig. 2 illustrates the top view of system and method to enhance the air conditioning of an automobile according to the present invention

- Fig. 5 illustrates the top view of system and method to enhance the air conditioning of an automobile according to the present invention.
- Figure .1 illustrates the partition (2) being provided behind the front seats.
- the partition Once actuated by actuating switch preferably in the dashboard the partition unwinds from the ro ⁇ f and restricts the forced air circulating area to the front seats ' only.
- Means to wind and unwind (1) is preferably provided in side pillars near the window for winding and unwinding of the partition.
- Said means is preferably a motor.
- the motor -is driven from the power supplying system of the vehicle.
- hand operated device (3) ' may be used for winding and unwinding.
- Figure 2 and 3 illustrate the partition (2) being provided behind the front seats, means to wind- and unwind (1) is preferably provided in side pillar near the window and hand operated device (3) preferably provided near dashboard.
- Duct (5) is provided to supply conditioned air from the top.
- Figure 4- illustrates the partition (2) being provided along the length of the vehicle and figure 5 illustrates the partition (2) being provided along the length and along the breadth so as to selectively use the partitions and the combination thereof. It also indicates detecting means (6) that may be in the form of sensors or camera with interpreting means .
- the system when a passenger of a vehicle intend to use the air- conditioning/ warming/ blower option of the automobile, the system . provides the user with an option as to whether or not the user intends to use the enhancer option. Incase the user chooses this option then based on further embodiments either a . simple partition (along the length or along the breadth or a combination thereof) is drawn down to reduce the volume, or the ' system detects the number of users/passengers and the position of users/passengers and based on their numbers and position creates a partitions either along the length or along the breadth or a combination thereof.
- the partitions are created • due to unwinding of a elastic or like substance that are flexible in nature, unlike the rigid or static partitions found in few—automobiles where the sole—objective was to create some privacy at the will of the _us.e-rs/passengers.
- the material so used to create the .partition is preferably of transparent or translucent material so that it does not obstruct the viewing of the rear view mirror.
- the partition material may be made of some opaque substance.
- the partitions' material in the instant invention are designed in a manner to sustain- recurring use .i.e. even by winding and unwinding of the partition ' through" the motor or by hand held device, the partition lis not damaged. This is especially important for partitions' 1 where the rear or side views need not be restricted..
- a mesh like structure is embedded in the elastic like structure. This will enable- it to be sturdy as well as ⁇ 1 ⁇ ible .
- the partitions may or may not be air-tight, the object is to increase or decrease the circulation of -air in a particular— volume " so_as to enhance conditioning.
- the partition so created can be clamped- either on side or bottom for stability and support .
- partitions are configurable. By this it is meant that position where the partition may be created can be configured (for each automobile model) to enable optimal movement of the. chairs positioned- in the automobile. Fox example as illustrated in figure 1, it consists of a four seater ' 3 box car. The front seats can incline to a certain angle; they can also be -adjusted back and forth to some distance. The Instant invention in its preferred embodiments takes these into consideration. The position of the partition -that goes along the width is therefore either over the rear seat -or just where, the rear seats ends. In such a scenario, if the partition is placed by unwinding a partition along the breadth, the front seats would have the maximum ⁇ comfort but it would be difficult for anyone to sit on the rear seats . The instant invention thus focuses and determines the positioning of the partition in terms of optimized comfort for the users/passengers.
- the system will further comprise of detecting means to detect persons sitting in the automobile.
- the detecting means is a transducer provided beneath every seat, so that when a passenger sits on any seat it transmits a signal.
- the detecting means can also be a digital camera to capture data inside the automobile attached with interpreting -means to determine the number and position of the users/passengers.
- the automatic air conditioning system thereby stops all other ducts/ vents and only throws the condi-tioned air (cool or warm) in the desired volume where the passenger/user desires and ' other ducts/ vents are selectively closed.
- This embodiment selectively decides -to optimize the volume of the air circulation by providing combination- of partition along the length and along the breadth.
- the winding and unwinding of ⁇ he partitions take place using a motor or hand operated device or. combination thereof.
- the partition When in winded the position the partition is hidden in the ducts of the automobile, preferably on the roof. This not only saves space, but is also aesthetically good to. look at.
- the system draws power—from the power supply of the automobile.
- partition means a medium to restrict or obstruct the flow of ' air received inside the automobile through the vents .
- the partition consists of elastic like object, it may alsjD simply be an airflow that obstructs/restricts the flow of air.
