Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a pushchair for children.
  • the term "pushchair” is used to indicate any hand-pushed vehicle comprising a wheeled chassis on which a seat, cot or bassinet or the like, is fitted, including baby carriages.
  • Pushchairs for children which comprise a chassis provided with three or four wheels for resting on the ground and on which a seat is fitted.
  • Another drawback of known pushchairs consists in that they do not allow to control and modify the orientation of the freely pivoting wheels in the selected direction.
  • the aim of the present invention is to provide an improved pushchair for children which has an agile structure which can be maneuvered easily.
  • An object of the present invention is to provide an improved pushchair for children which is stable and safe regardless of the conditions of the ground on which it rests.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide an improved pushchair for children which is versatile and can be adapted easily to several uses and to the different stages of the growth of a child.
  • Still another object of the present invention is to provide an improved seat for children which can be opened and closed with a limited number of operations which are simple to perform.

  • the chassis 2 comprises a tubular element 8, which extends along the axial direction of the pushchair 1 and supports, at the front end, one or two front wheels 3 and, at the rear end, with the steering device 6 interposed, the rear wheels 4.
  • the chassis 2 is further provided with a platform 9 for coupling the seat 5 and optionally with a footrest 10 for resting the feet of a child, the footrest being rigidly coupled to the tubular element 8.
  • the steering device 6 comprises a shaft, which is generally designated by the reference numeral 1 1 and is arranged transversely to the resting plane of the front wheels 3 and rear wheels 4 and is associated so that it can rotate about its own longitudinal axis l la with a support 12 which is rigidly coupled to the chassis 2.
  • the upper end of the shaft 1 1 is associated with the maneuvering handlebar 7 and the lower end of the shaft 1 1 is associated with an axle 13 of each of the two rear wheels 4.
  • the steering device 6 comprises means for limiting the relative rotation of the shaft 1 1 with respect to the support 12, which are described hereinafter and which, in a preferred embodiment, allow a rotation of the shaft 1 1 and therefore of the assembly of the two rear wheels 4 through 35° in both directions of rotation.
  • the steering device 6 comprises the shaft 1 1, which is constituted by a sleeve 14 for connecting an upper coupling 15 for the maneuvering handlebar 7 and a lower coupling 16 for the axles 13 of the two rear wheels 4.
  • the sleeve 14 is associated so that it can rotate about the axis l la with the support 12.
  • One or more spokes 17 extend from the outer lateral surface of the sleeve 14, and their free end is coupled slidingly within a guide 18, which is shaped like a circular arc or a circle and is defined within the support 12.
  • the support 12 is constituted by a sort of center bearing or annular element, on the internal circumference of which the guide 18 is defined.
  • the means for limiting the rotation of the shaft 1 1 with respect to the support 12, i.e., the means that delimit the steering angle, comprise one or more stop surfaces 19 of the spokes 17 defined by the sides of circular sectors 20 which protrude centripetally within the support 12.
  • the innermost radial end of the circular sectors 20 is contoured so as to define a guide for the rotation of the sleeve 14.

  • gear system 23a-23b is provided for controlling the rotation of the two couplings, the upper one 15 and the lower one 16, with respect to the sleeve
  • Means 24 of the removable type for locking the rotation of the upper coupling 15 and of the lower coupling 16 with respect to the sleeve 14 when the pushchair 1 is in the open configuration for use are further provided.
  • the two axles 13 are associated with the lower coupling 16 by means of an umbrella-folding mechanism which is also functional to the opening and closure of the pushchair 1.

  • the two annular elements 68a and 68b are mutually rigidly connected so as to form a single body for supporting the tire 69 by means of screws, not shown, which can engage in the holes defined along their annular edge.
  • At least one of the wheels, particularly the rear wheels 4, is provided with a braking device, which comprises a shoe 71 which is associated with the bracket 67 so that it can move between an inactive configuration, in which it does not interact with the tire 69, and an active configuration, in which it rests with interference on the tire 69, a lever 72 for actuating the shoe 71 being provided.
  • a braking device which comprises a shoe 71 which is associated with the bracket 67 so that it can move between an inactive configuration, in which it does not interact with the tire 69, and an active configuration, in which it rests with interference on the tire 69, a lever 72 for actuating the shoe 71 being provided. Operation of the invention is as follows.
  • the chassis 2 is open and the seat 5 is applied to the platform 9.
  • the retainer 36 locks the sliding of the sliders of the rods
  • the hook 30 instead locks the rotation of the upper coupling 15 and of the lower coupling 16 with respect to the sleeve 14, thus keeping the chassis 2 open, with the maneuvering handlebar 7 which protrudes upwardly at the rear and the axles 13 which protrude downwardly at the rear.
  • the spring-loaded pin 40 keeps the handle 39 fixed with respect to the lever 38.
  • the dimensions of the seat 5 can be adapted in terms of width, height and depth to the growth stage of the child by way of the means for adjusting the relative distance of the two sitting surface halves 44 and 45 and of the two back halves 46 and 47 and by way of the possibility to adjust the relative distance of the wings 56a-56b and 57a-57b of their side walls and the position of the extension 62.
  • the seat 5 can be disengaged from the platform 9 and can be used as a car seat; in this case, the two lateral arms 60 are moved into the raised configuration in order to act as a coupling for the seat belts (Figure 13) or reclining in a bassinet-like configuration is possible ( Figure 14). In order to close the pushchair 1 , it is sufficient to release the retainer
  • the pushchair according to the invention thanks to the rear steering device, allows to modify the orientation of the rear wheels simply and safely, ensuring the stability of ground resting and without danger of tipping.
  • the pushchair according to the invention can be maneuvered easily by a user both as regards its steering and as regards the operations for opening and closure.
  • the pushchair according to the invention has a structure which can be adapted easily both to different uses and to the progressive growth of a child.
  • the invention thus conceived is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, all of which are within the scope of the appended claims.
