Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an alarm device for generating an alarm when a child, person or animal falls into water.
  • the present invention provides a device for giving an alarm when it enters water, comprising:
  • a frame for fastening to a person - a housing for holding a sound source
  • an attaching member for attaching the housing releasably to the frame
  • an actuator for actuating the releasable attachment of the attaching member, which actuator can be activated by means of contact with water.
  • An advantage of a device according to the inven- tion is that a loud noise can be generated, while hearing impairment can also be prevented since a certain distance can be provided between the housing and the person who falls into the water.
  • a further advantage is that the device is released from the casualty, whereby it can float to the surface and here generate sound through the air unhindered by the water.
  • the sound source is disposed in the alarm position such that water can flow off the sound source.
  • the alarm sound is not damped by water which has for instance entered the housing when the housing is submerged in water when the casualty falls into the water. Because the water can flow off, the sound source can dry rapidly and once again be able to generate the alarm sound.
  • the device has a centre of gravity such that during floating in a body of water it will move into a substantially vertical orientation.
  • This vertical orientation is suitable in this em- bodiment for holding the upper part of the housing, and the sound source in the housing, directed upward. This vertical orientation therefore contributes toward the alarm signal being generated optimally.

  • An advantage of the present invention is therefore on the one hand that a loud signal can be generated without this excessively disturbing the casualty auditively or causing pain, while it is also possible that the distance between the casualty and the alarm signal, or at least the source thereof, does not become too great.
