Abstract

L'invention concerne des procédés, des systèmes et un appareil pour systèmes laser de destruction microbienne émettant dans le proche infrarouge (NIMELS), y compris leur utilisation avec des dispositifs médicaux. Les dispositifs médicaux peuvent être situés in vivo. Des dispositifs médicaux appropriés incluent des cathéters, des endoprothèses, des articulations artificielles et analogues. Les procédés, les systèmes et l'appareil pour NIMELS permettent d'appliquer une énergie rayonnante dans le proche infrarouge présentant certaines longueurs d'onde et des dosimétries capables de détruire des contaminants biologiques sans les risques intolérables et/ou les effets indésirables sur les fractions biologiques autres qu'un contaminant biologique ciblé associés aux systèmes classiques décrits dans la technique (par ex., perte de viabilité ou thermolyse). Des lasers comprenant des lasers à diodes peuvent être utilisés pour une ou plusieurs sources lumineuses. Un ensemble de distribution peut être utilisé pour distribuer le rayonnement optique produit par la ou les sources vers une région d'application pouvant comprendre le tissu du patient.
