Abstract

A headset with an active crossover network (101) is provided. The headset is coupled to an audio source using either a wired or a wireless connection or to two audio sources using both wired and wireless connections. The active crossover network (101), utilizing either analog (105) or digital filtering (501), divides each channel of the incoming audio signal into multiple frequency regions. If the headset is simultaneously coupled to two audio sources, preferably a controller (405) is used to determine whether the first, or second, audio source is coupled to the active crossover network (101). The output from the crossover network's filters is amplified. Preferably, gain control circuitry (115) is used to control the gain of the amplifiers (107) and thus the volume produced by the drivers (111-114). A power source (109) is coupled to the amplifier (107) and, if necessary, the network's filters.
