Abstract

La présente invention se rapporte à une lampe à plasma permettant d'obtenir une lampe à plasma sans électrode possédant un corps guide d'ondes diélectrique profilé. Le corps profilé peut posséder une zone relativement mince contenant une ampoule, et une seconde zone plus épaisse que la première. Des sondes à micro-ondes destinées à fournir de l'énergie au corps guide d'ondes peuvent être placées dans la seconde zone. Le corps peut être profilé de manière à intensifier le champ électrique dans la première zone à proximité immédiate de l'ampoule, ce qui permet à la lampe de fonctionner à une fréquence inférieure à la fréquence de fonctionnement d'un corps guide d'ondes cylindrique ou rectangulaire solide possédant un volume et une constante diélectrique identiques.
