Abstract

The demands placed upon cores are high. Firstly, the cores must be easy to produce, dimensionally stable and exact with regard to contours, the materials used for producing them should neither harm the environment nor cause health threats and, finally, they should enable the residues of a core to be removed as easily, quickly and completely as possible after casting. To this end, the invention provides cores for producing metallic cast parts, preferably aluminum molded parts. These cores are characterized in that they are comprised of base materials based on salt or carbon and that inorganic and/or organic binders are provided for hardening during the production and maintaining shape during the casting.
