Description

DESCRIPTION
GLASSES FORMED OF SECTIONS
[Technical Field]
The present invention relates to glasses, and more particularly, to glasses formed of
sections, for easy maintenance, and convenience of a user.
[Background Art]
In general, in the glasses which are a device for wearing on eyes to correct sight, or
protect eyes, there are corrective glasses and protective glasses.
In the corrective glasses for correcting sight of a person having sight poorer than
normal, there are glasses for short sight, far sight, astigmatism, and presbyopia. In the
protective glasses, there are glasses for protecting eyes from hazards of an external world, i.e.,
wind, foreign matters, and so on, besides a UV ray, an infrared ray, an intensive visible ray, a
radioactive ray, a typical one of which is sun glasses.
The glasses are provided with a frame for mounting one pair of lenses, and one pair
of temples at opposite sides of the frame.
The frame has in general one pair of rims for mounting the lenses thereon
respectively, and a bridge of connecting the bridge.
The rim has in general a shape in conformity with a shape of an outside
circumference of the lens, and a groove for mounting the lens therein.
The bridge connects the rims, and balances the glasses. Recently, instead of the rim with a shape in conformity with a shape of an outside
circumference of the lens, there are a rimless frame having the rim only on an upper side of
the lens, or a point frame having rims at opposite sides of the frame for connecting the
temples thereto, and a bridge connected, not to the rim, but to the lenses, directly.
The temple, connecting an ear of the person who wears the glasses to the frame,
serves to fix a style of the glasses.
The glasses may be formed of a material selected from a variety of materials, such as
a metal like aluminum, nickel silver, stainless steel, and so on, or a synthetic resin, or the like.
In a case of glasses of metal, there is a frame which exposes a color of the metal as it
is depending on properties of the metal, or a frame having various colors, or patterns coated
thereon, or a frame having a variety of colors with pigments in a case of a frame of the
synthetic resin.
However, the related art glasses have the following drawbacks.
First, though users who wear glasses have a variety of shapes and sizes of faces, the
glasses are produced to have uniform shapes and sizes to be. suitable to general users.
Consequently, the related glasses fail to reflect various body characteristics of the users.
Second, since the glasses are used every day continuously, the glasses is susceptible
to damage. However, since the glasses has the frame and the temples each constructed as one
unit, if any portion of the glasses are damaged during use of the glasses, it is required to
replace entire glasses. Thus, the glasses have difficulty in maintenance because the glasses
can not be replaced, or repaired, partially. Third, since fabrication of the related art glasses is finished with plating or coating
after assembly of the frame and the temples, it has been difficult to express various colors,
textures, shapes at the glasses. Thus, the related art glasses have a drawback in that the user
can not assemble glasses personally according to the user's individual character, or taste.

same or like parts.
Glasses formed of sections of the present invention will be described with reference
to FIG. 1.
Referring to FIG. 1, the glasses 10 with sections includes a frame 100 for mounting lenses thereon, and one pair of temples connected to one side and the other of the frame 100
respectively. Preferably, there is a hinge at a connection portion between the frame 100 and
each of the temples 300, for folding the temples as required. Since basic structures of the
frame 100 and the temples 300 are the same with the related art, detailed description of which
will be omitted.
In the glasses 10 with sections, the frame 100 or each of the temples 300 includes a
plurality of sections 100, 130, and 150, or 310, 330, 350, and 370, detachable to permit
joining with a relevant section.
Of course, different from this, it is apparent that only the frame 100 or the temples
300 may have sections, especially, the temples 300.
The sections 100, 130, 150, 310, 330, 350, and 370 may be formed by a variety of
fabricating methods, for an example, by injection molding.
A section structure of the temple of the glasses formed of sections in accordance with
a preferred embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. 2
and 3.
Referring to FIG. 2, each of the sections 310, 330, 350, and 370 has at least one
projection 331 or slot 315 with shapes in conformity with each other, for placing the
projection 331 in the slot 315.
A section adjacent to a section having a projection or a slot formed thereon has a slot
or a projection with a shape in conformity with a shape of the former section, for joining with
each other. FIG. 2 illustrates an enlarged view of a section 310 adjacent to a section 330 having a
projection 331 formed thereon has a slot 315 with a shape in conformity with a shape of the
former section 330.
Referring to FIG. 3, of the sections 310, 330, 350 and 370, a tip portion 370 at an end
of the temple 300 for hooking at an ear has the projection only at a fore end, and a section
310 to be coupled to the frame 100 has the slot 315 only at a rear end.
In the meantime, it is preferable that both sides of the slot 315 in each of the sections
310, 330, 350 and 370 are opened so that the section 3,10, 330, 350 or 370 can be joined to a
mating section by pressing the section 310, 330, 350 or 370 into the slot 315 of the mating
section from one of the sides. However, joining methods of the sections are not limited to this,
but the sections 310, 330, 350 and 370 may be joined in a longitudinal direction.
The projections 331 and the slots 315 have shapes which can prevent the sections
310, 330, 350 and 370 from moving in the longitudinal direction in a joined state. Variations
of the projections 331 and the slots 315 will be described with reference to FIGS. 4 A to 4C,
later.
Preferably, at least one of the sections 310, 330, 350 and 370 has a length different
from the other sections 310, 330, 350 and 370. Thus, by providing different lengths of the
sections 310, 330, 350 and 370, from a short one to a long one, a length of the temple 300 can
be adjusted smoothly according to a size of the user.
Along with this, it is preferable that the sections 310, 330, 350 and 370 have a variety
of colors and textures, so that the sections 310, 330, 350 and 370 are selected according to the user's individual character, or taste.
In the meantime, it is preferable that the glasses 10 with sections includes reinforcing
members 391 each pass through the sections 310, 330, 350 and 370 of the temple 300 for
reinforcing a joined state of the sections 310, 330, 350 and 370.
Referring to FIG. 3, the sections 310, 330, 350 and 370 have pass through holes 395
at centers respectively for pass through of the reinforcing member 391.
The reinforcing member 391 may have a variety of shapes, for an example, a rod
wire of metal.
An assembling method of the glasses 10 with sections will be described.
At first, of the sections 310, 330, 350 and 370 of the temple 300, at first, sections 310,
330, and 350 except the tip 370 are assembled. The sections 310, 330, and 350 can be joined
easily by pressing from a side thereof.
Then, the tip 370 having the reinforcing member 391 formed as one body therewith
is provided.
The sections 310, 330, and 350 assembled at first, and the tip 370 are assembled in a
longitudinal direction. In this instance, the reinforcing member 391 is passed through the
centers of the sections 310, 330, and 350, to finish assembling of the temple 300.
In the foregoing assembling method, in order to place the reinforcing member 391 in
the pass through holes 395 of the sections 310, 330, and 350, it is required that the tip 370
and the section adjacent thereto are joined, not from the side, but from the longitudinal
direction. In the meantime, different from the foregoing assembling method, a plurality of
reinforcing members may be provided, to place the reinforcing members in joining portions
of the sections 310, 330, 350 and 370 of the temple 300, respectively. Instead of the
reinforcing member 391 of the rod wire, or together with the reinforcing members 391,
adhesive may be applied to the joining portions of the sections 310, 330, 350 and 370, for
firm assembly of the sections 310, 330, 350 and 370.
The reinforcing member 391 enables to prevent the projections 331 and the slots 315
of the sections 310 and 350 joined to each other from misaligning or breaking away from
each other during assembling or use, or the temple 300 suffering from breakage or damage
even if a strong external impact or vibration is applied thereto.
Referring to FIGS. 4Ato 4C, detailed shapes of the projections 331, and 351, and the
slots 315, and 335 will be described.
As described before, it is preferable that the projections 331, and 351, and the slots
315, and 335 at the sections 310, 330, and 350 have shapes which can prevent the temple 300
from moving in the longitudinal direction in a state the sections 310, 330, and 350 are joined
together.
Accordingly, referring to FIGS. 4A to 4C, the projections 31, and the slots 315, 335
(32) may have a variety of shapes, such as shapes of trapezoid, diamond, petal, gear tooth,
other than circle, as far as the shape prevents the temple from moving in the longitudinal
direction in a state the sections are joined together.
A sectional structure of the temple of the glasses 20 with sections in accordance with another preferred embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to
FIGS. 5 and 6.
In the embodiment, different from the foregoing embodiment, instead of the
reinforcing member passed through the sections 410, 430, 450, and 470, reinforcing pins 433,
and 453, and reinforcing holes 417, and 437 are provided.
In detail, as shown in an enlarged view of FIG. 5, a projection 431 of a section 430
has a reinforcing pin 433, and a slot 415 of a section 410 adjacent thereto has a reinforcing
hole 417 having a shape in conformity with a shape of the pin 433, for placing the pin 433
therein. This configuration enables firm assembly of the sections 410, and 430 even if the
sections 410, and 430 have no pass through holes and no reinforcing member is provided.
For assembling the sections, instead of pressing the sections 410, 430, 450, and 470
from sides, it is preferable that the sections 410, 430, 450, and 470 are assembled by pressing
the sections 410, 430, 450, and 470 in a longitudinal direction.
In the meantime, for easy longitudinal assembly of the sections 410, 430, 450, and
470, it is preferable that the projection 431, or 451 has a front end height similar to, or
slightly greater than, a rear end height.
For rigid joining of the sections 410, 430, 450, and 470, an adhesive may be applied
to joining portions of the sections.
A sectional structure of a glass frame 100 of the present invention will be described
with reference to FIG. 7.
As described before, the frame 100 includes one pair of rims 110, and 130, and a bridge 150 for connecting the rims 110, and 130.
In the embodiment, either one of the rim 110, or 130 and the bridge has a projection,
and the other one has a slot with a shape in conformity with the projection.
FIG. 7 illustrates a bridge with projections 151 at opposite sides, and one pair of rims
110, and 130 each with a slot 135 with a shape in conformity with the proj ection 151.
Moreover, referring to FIG. 7, the embodiment illustrates a shape in which the bridge
150 has one section.
In the meantime, it is preferable that the bridge 150 has a variety of lengths, for
selection of the bridge 150 of a proper length according to a dimension of the middle of the
forehead, or a size of a face of the user.
As described before, a reinforcing pin may be formed on the projection 151, and a
reinforcing hole may be formed in the slot 135, for maintaining a rigid joining state, or an
adhesive may be applied to the joining portion of the projection 151 and the slot 135.
In the meantime, similar to the section of the temples, the rims 110 and 130, it is
preferable that the bridge 150 may be fabricated to have a variety of colors and textures, for
the user to select the bridge 150 according to an individual character, or taste of the user.
For an example, the rims 110, and 130 may have blue color, while the bridge 150 has
white color. Other than this, the sections may be monochromic, transparent, semitransparent,
and a variety of textures, for provide glasses with a variety of shapes.
