Abstract

The invention relates to radiolocation and can be used for traffic control systems and for preventing vehicle collisions. The inventive method for measuring speeds and co-ordinates of objects consists in transmitting a continuous frequency-modulated probing signal, receiving a reflected signal in one or several spaced positions, multiplying said signal with the transmitted signal and in calculating a matrix of correlative function values (CF) of a received homodyne signal and a two-dimensional (distance, speed) matrix of reference signals which are formed of a modulating signal. The distances and speeds of detected objects are calculated on the basis of the numbers of the CF matrix elements, wherein the FC values are higher than a threshold level. The speed value is defined more exactly by calculating the frequencies of correlation signal spectrum components which are obtained in the form of a sequence of CF values during signal accumulation. A three-dimensional (distance, speed, angular co-ordinate) basic signal matrix is formed for each position during reception of the reflected signal in several spaced positions and the distances, angular co-ordinates and speeds of detected objects being defined according to the numbers a corresponding matrix which represent the sum of CF positions. The inventive system for measuring the object speeds and co-ordinates comprises an antenna-feeder device, a homodyne transmitter/receiver, a correlometer which forms basic signal matrixes and calculates correlative functions and correlation signals and a processor which forms a modulating signal and calculates the speeds and co-ordinates of objects.
