Abstract

La présente invention se rapporte à un analyseur en continu amélioré permettant de contrôler la quantité de soufre ou d'azote présente dans des produits pétroliers liquides ou des boissons. Cet analyseur comprend les composants principaux suivants : un injecteur d'échantillon conçu pour injecter des volumes fixes préétablis de liquide dans un dispositif d'oxydation thermique (pyrolyseur) à un rythme préétabli et régulé, un dispositif d'oxydation thermique conçu pour oxyder thermiquement l'échantillon à une température d'environ 1 050° C, un conditionneur d'échantillon conçu pour réguler l'humidité relative et la température du mélange gazeux résultant, une cellule électrochimique sensible au dioxyde de soufre (SO2) ou à l'oxyde d'azote NO et permettant de mesurer la concentration de SO2 ou de NO dans le mélange gazeux, et un contrôleur programmable PLC conçu pour calculer la teneur en soufre de l'échantillon original et pour gérer l'analyseur. L'analyseur en continu amélioré peut mettre en oeuvre des procédés supplémentaires ainsi qu'un appareil pour empêcher des perturbations dues à l'azote au cours de la détection d'une substance, en particulier, de nouveaux procédés et un nouvel appareil permettant d'empêcher les perturbations liées à l'azote dans la mise en oeuvre des procédés pyro-électrochimiques. Un appareil préféré de la présente invention comporte un convertisseur catalytique ou un convertisseur thermique permettant de retirer sélectivement les composants perturbateurs contenant de l'azote sans modifier la teneur en soufre. Un second appareil préféré de la présente invention comporte un dispositif d'épuration chimique permettant d'extraire sélectivement du flux gazeux les composants perturbateurs contenant de l'azote sans modifier la teneur en soufre. Bien que l'analyseur soit conçu au départ pour contrôler la teneur en soufre, ce même équipement peut être utilisé pour analyser tout échantillon présentant une viscosité adaptée et pouvant être oxydé thermiquement dans des conditions spécifiées.
