Abstract

There is described a golf monitoring apparatus (10; 200) for measuring and displaying to a user a trajectory of a golf ball (40) struck by the user. The apparatus (10; 200) employs one or more sheets (120; 210, 220) of light susceptible to interception by the ball (40) for determining a trajectory (50) of the ball (40). If required, acoustic sensing is employed to detect when the ball (40) is struck. The apparatus (10, 200) further incorporates a display (100) for displaying trajectory results to the user. The apparatus (10; 200) is of advantage in that the one or more light sheets can be generated using relatively inexpensive devices and backscattered radiation from the ball (40) can be used to determine the spatial position of the ball (40).
