Abstract

La présente invention concerne un appareil à microcanal et un procédé permettant de traiter un échantillon ou d'effectuer simultanément une pluralité de réactions à faible volume avec des constituants présents dans un milieu à phase liquide volumique. L'appareil comprend un dispositif prévu avec un canal allongé ou plan qui définit une pluralité de régions de réaction distinctes de faible volume dans le canal, chacune de ces régions communiquant avec des réservoirs d'alimentation et d'attente à partir desquels la matière peut être introduite dans les régions, et dans lesquels la matière peut être transférée depuis les régions de réaction. Un réactif spécifique pour la réaction est retenu sur une partie de paroi de chaque région de réaction ou dans un réservoir associé à une région de réaction, pour réagir en solution avec un ou plusieurs des constituants du milieu à phase liquide volumique, afin de produire une réaction sélectionnée en phase solution dans chaque région ou dans un réservoir spécifique à une région. Le canal ou la communication du fluide entre une région de réaction et une région spécifique à une région associée est dimensionné pour empêcher sensiblement l'écoulement convectif du fluide entre les régions de réaction pendant de telles réactions, ceci confinant la réaction dans chaque région. L'appareil comprend également une structure de déplacement d'un solvant ou de constituants de solvant depuis un réservoir spécifique à une région ou vers ce réservoir, ou bien vers la région de réaction associée ou depuis cette dernière, et une unité de commande qui contrôle le mouvement de déplacement, du réservoir vers le canal et du canal vers le réservoir.
