Description

Device at a lock
The present invention relates to an arrangement for a lock which exhibits a movable bolt so arranged as to be capable of actuation causing it to be displaced between an extended position, in which the associated door with which the lock is so arranged as to interact is locked, and a retracted position in which the aforementioned door is unlocked and can be opened.
Doors that are so arranged as to be capable of being unlocked with the help of cards and/or code reader aids are used in many areas. Sensors and the like are so arranged in this case as to register, sense and actuate the various lock components included therein. The desire ow also exists to produce apartment locks and locks intended for other dwellings which function with a card and a card reader, for example, but which must also be capable of being opened manually, for example in the event of power failure.
Previously disclosed through DE-19939996-A1 is an arrangement for a lock that is electrically operated and can also be opened manually. The aforementioned previously disclosed lock consists of many parts, and its function is complicated especially if it is wished to be able to operate the lock manually. A special manually actuated insert, which is bulky, is included in the lock for this purpose, and many springs are arranged inside it, which are then required to function at all times in order to enable the lock to be actuated manually. The locking function also includes a number of springs and, if these cease to function, the locking will also not function.
The principal object of the present invention is thus, in the first instance, to make available an arrangement which solves the aforementioned problems by reliable, mechanically functioning means .
The aforementioned object is achieved by means of an arrangement in accordance with the present invention, which is characterized essentially in that the aforementioned bolt is capable of actuation by means of a safety bolt, in that the aforementioned safety bolt is spring-assisted causing it to be moved to a locked position in which the aforementioned bolt is locked in its extended locked position, in that a rocker arm is attached to the aforementioned bolt, in that a key or a lock handle is rotatably attached to the aforementioned bolt via the rocker arm, in that an electric motor is rotatably attached to a movement transmission mechanism so arranged as to cause the bolt to be moved to the locked position and to release the bolt from the locked position, in that the bolt exhibits legs situated at a distance from one another, between which a laterally projecting driving pin in a toothed wheel driven by the motor is so arranged as to operate, in conjunction with which the a orementioned driving pin is so arranged, when the toothed wheel has been rotated, as to actuate the first leg causing the bolt to move out to the locked position, in conjunction with which, regardless of the position in which the motor finds itself, the bolt is so arranged as to be capable of being locked and unlocked with a key/handle.
The invention is described below as a number or preferred illustrative embodiments, in conjunction with which reference is made to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figs. 1-4 show a first illustrative embodiment of a lock for a door, with associated parts and showing different views, where
Fig. 1 shows a front view of a lock plate;
Fig. 2 shows a side view of a lock;
Fig. 3 shows an end view of the lock plate; Fig. 4 shows a sectioned view of the lock and the associated lock case;
Figs. 5-6 show a second illustrative embodiment of a lock respectively in an unlocked position and in a locked position;
Fig. 7 shows a third illustrative embodiment of a lock shown iτι the "unlocked position; and
Figs. 8-9 show a fourth illustrative embodiment of a lock, in conjunction with which Fig. 8 shows the entire lock in function in the locked position; and
Fig, 9 shows parts of the lock in function.
The lock 1 is accommodated, like other parts that are described to enable a door 2 to be respectively locked, opened and closed, in a lock case 3 that is preferably retractable in the door 2 or in a door frame or some part of a surrounding wall not shown in the drawings. Also accommodated therein are the components that have the function of retaining the door 2 in the shut position without actuation of the locking parts of the lock, so that the door does not need to be locked, but so that the door has the function of being retained in the closed position without the need for any locking beforehand, i.e. an unlocked - openable - closable door 2. An arrangement 4 for the aforementioned lock 1, which exhibits a bolt 6 capable of being displaced in an essentially horizontal direction 5, which bolt is so arranged as to be capable of actuation so as to be displaced between an extended posi tion OL, in which the associated door, 2 on which the lock 1 is so arranged as to be installed, is locked, and a retracted position IL, in which the aforementioned door 2 is unlocked and can be opened, comprises means enabling the lock 1 to be opened with a key 1 or with the help of an electric motor 8. The bolt 6 is capable of actuation by a safety bolt 9, which in turn is spring-assisted 10 causing it to be moved to a locked position S, in which the aforementioned bolt 6 is locked in its extended locked position UL. Also present is a rocker arm 11 attached to a key 7 or some other lock handle. The aforementioned key 7 is rotatably attached to the aforementioned bolt 11 for the purpose of transmitting movement via the rocker arm 11 to the bolt 6. An electric motor 8 is rotatably attached to a movement transmission mechanism 12, which is so arranged as to cause the bolt 6 to be moved in a direction towards the extended locked position UL and to release the bolt 6 from the locked position UL to the unlocked position OL. See in this respect the embodiments in accordance with Figs. 5-7, which exhibit components referred to in the description.
A release arm 13 is so arranged as to interact with the rocker arm 11 to actuate the safety bolt 9 causing it to be displaced in a direction away from 14 its locking function, as shown in Fig. 2 and in Fig. 6, and in this case the bolt 6 is drawn into the lock case 3 from its extended locked position UL.
A pin 15 or some other similar contact, which is arranged on the rocker arm 11, is so arranged as' to press down the release arm 13, and the bolt 6 is so arranged as to be actuated by an overcentre spring 16 causing it to be displaced in a direction out towards the extended locked position UL.
The bolt 6 exhibits legs 17 and 18 for this purpose situated at a distance A from one another, between vjhich a laterally 19 projecting driving pin 20 in a toothed wheel 21 driven by the motor 8 via interjacent toothed wheels 23, 50 is so arranged as to act in order to transfer movement to the mechanism. The aforementioned toothed wheel 21 can only rotate in a single direction 24. The aforementioned driving pin 20 is capable of being accommodated in a groove 22 situated above the first leg 17 when the toothed wheel 21 has been rotated in its direction of driving 24. The aforementioned driving pin 20 is also so arranged, when the toothed wheel 21 has been rotated in the direction of driving 24 in accordance with the above, as to actuate the aforementioned first leg 17 causing the bolt 6 to move out towards the locked position UL. The pivot axle 25 of the aforementioned toothed wheel 21 is so arranged as to function as an end stop for both of the aforementioned legs 17, 18 of the bolt 6. See Fig. 4, 6 and 5, 7, where the bolt 6 is moved respectively to its fully extended position UL and to its fully retracted position IL.
A gear 26, for example a worm gear, is capable of connection to the electric motor 8, which takes its power supply from a battery (not shown) or the mains electricity supply in a previously disclosed fashion within electric motor technology.
The safety bolt 9 is situated on the rear end part 6A of the bolt 6 and is formed appropriately from a pivotally mounted angled swinging arm, which is mounted pivotally about a shaft 27 onto which a spring 10 is passed so as to be accommodated in such a way as to cause the swinging arm.9 to be forced to pivot in a direction downwards 28 with its contact part 29. The aforementioned contact part 29 is so arranged, on actuation of the bolt 6, as to make contact with the rear end 30 of the bolt in the aforementioned locked position S of the bolt.
A handle 31 is capable of attachment with its out- of-round pivot axle 32 to the lock 1 via a pivot arm 33 with a transcurrent hole 34 of matching shape for the aforementioned pivot axle 32. A spring 35 for a spring latch bolt 36 is provided for the door 2 and is so arranged as to retain the door in the closed position without the lock 1 needing to be locked. A return spring 37 for the pivot arm 33 is also so arranged as to act between the aforementioned arm 33 and an attachment 38 in the lock case 3. The function of the invention can be as follows:
The bolt 6 is shown in Figs. 5 and 7 in the fully withdrawn unlocked position IL, and the door 2 can in this case be opened and closed freely without obstacle with the help of the handle 31, which is pressed down in this case. Locking can take place in two ways from this position, either by turning the key 7 or a lock handle (not shown) , or by a current impulse starting the electric motor 8, which drives the toothed wheel 21 through half a revolution via the gear 26. The driving pin 20 then presses against the cam-shaped leg 17 on the bolt 6, so that it is pushed out to a locked position UL in accordance with Figs. 4 and 6. The final half of this cycle helps the overcentre spring 16 to push out the bolt 6.
Once the bolt 6 has been pushed out for a sufficient distance, the safety bolt 9 is pushed down behind the bolt 6, thanks to the spring 10, and locks the bolt 6 in the extended position UL. The driving pin 20 is then in position in the upper part of the wheel once the wheel 21 has been rotated through half a revolution. The lock 1 can now be opened in two ways, either by rotating the key 7 in its lock cylinder 39 or by supplying a current impulse to the electric motor 8, which drives the toothed wheel 21 with the driving pin 20 through a further ISO degrees. In both alternatives, the safety bolt 9 is released by an extended leg 40 on the rocker arm 11 pressing down the release arm 13 via the pin 15 so that the safety bolt 9 is lifted out of its locking function and by the bolt 6 being drawn into the lock 1.
The key 7 or the lock handle actuates a pivot part 42, for example an out-of-round axle, which is accommodated in an opening 43 of matching shape that is situated in the bearing 44 for the rocker arm 11. The rocker arm 11 is caused to pivot down when it is actuated, for example, by the key 7. Regardless of the position of the driving pin 20, the bolt 6 can be caused to move via the key 7 or the lock handle respectively from and to a locked or unlocked position, where the groove 22 and an apex 41 on the cam leg 18 permits free passage past the driving pin 20, for example in the event of power failure or in conjunction with some other opening situation when it is wished to avoid opening with a card, code, sensor, etc., for example in emergency situations. It is thus possible, by supplying power to the motor 8, respectively to lock and unlock the lock 1. Regardless of the operating position in which the motor 8 finds itself, it is possible both to lock and to unlock the lock 1 with the help of a key or a handle, for example in the event of power failure.
Clearly illustrated in Figs. 1-4 is a component 45 capable of being accommodated in a door frame, in which the bolt 6 and spring latch bolt 36 are so arranged as to be accommodated in matching recesses 46, 47.
The lock illustrated in Figs. 8 and 9 differs essentially from the other locks illustrated and described in this case primarily in respect of the manner driving. As can be appreciated from the aforementioned Figures, the driving pin 120 is no longer directly attached to the toothed wheel 18, but is connected to a lever 150, which can be pivotally mounted at the centre of the toothed wheel 18 about an axle 125 or elsewhere in the lock if required. The aforementioned driving pin 120 is guided in a slot 151 in the toothed wheel 18.
The lever 150 can exhibit a spring return to the illustrated position, but when the toothed wheel 18 is caused to rotate in the direction of driving 24, for driving the motor 8 and the transmission of the drive via toothed wheels 152, 126 provided for this purpose in a clockwise direction 24, it will still always lie in the position shown in the drawing due to friction, etc.
In conjunction with manual unlocking with the help of a handle or key, the lever 150 is able to rotate with the driving pin 120, which slides easily in the guide slot 151, so that locking can take place without interference from the force resultants, which may previously have caused problems in that the lock could not be opened if the pin had ended up in a disadvantageous position because the force resultant had gone directly to the centre.
In other respects the additional embodiment of the lock described above functions in the previously indicated fashion, and the components that are essentially identical with the previously described illustrative embodiments have been given the same reference designation in the drawings . The invention is naturally not restricted to the embodiments described above and shown in the accompanying drawings. Modifications are possible, in particular with regard to the nature of the various components or by the use of equivalent technology, without departing from the area of protection afforded to the invention, as defined in the Patent Claims.
