  • ultrasound techniques there are a large number of analytical techniques which have been utilised, with varying degrees of success, for in vivo clinical monitoring. For example, there is considerable interest in medical applications of ultrasound and photoacoustic waves. This is because, in contrast to mterrogating techniques such as X-ray imaging and scintigraphy, ultrasound offers the possibility of interrogating a subject with no harmful side effects. Ultrasound imaging of cardiac structures, the vascular systems, the foetus and uterus, abdominal organs such as the liver, kidneys and gall bladder is known. Additionally, ultrasound measurements of the eye are known. It should be noted that, in addition to applications which are concerned solely with the generation of images, ultrasound techniques can provide information, albeit limited information, about the nature of the tissue being interrogated. Principally, such information relates to the elasticity of the interrogated tissue. However, it is not possible to provide detailed information concerning the state of the tissue under interrogation.

Abstract

L'invention concerne un appareil d'analyse de tissus organiques comprenant: un moyen (10) permettant d'effectuer des mesures cliniquement pertinentes de ces tissus organiques à l'aide d'au moins deux techniques d'analyse sélectionnées parmi l'analyse photoacoustique, la spectroscopie par fluorescence; la spectroscopie Raman; la spectroscopie à rayonnement infrarouge; la microscopie confocale optique et la chromacité optique. Ce moyen (10) qui permet d'effectuer des mesures cliniquement pertinentes comprend une pluralité de sources de lumière (12, 14) qui délivrent un rayonnement électromagnétique servant à l'application des techniques d'analyse. Cet appareil comprend également un système guide de lumière (16, 18) qui est couplé à chaque source de lumière (12, 14) et permet d'orienter le rayonnement électromagnétique de chaque source de lumière vers le tissu organique tout en analysant sensiblement le long d'un passage commun de telle manière que le rayonnement électromagnétique provenant des sources de lumière (12, 14) émerge du système guide de lumière (16, 18) au niveau d'un point commun.
