Abstract

The invention provides enzymes having phosphatase activity, e.g., thermostable phosphatase activity, and polynucleotides encoding these enzymes, and making and using these polynucleotides and polypeptides. The phosphatase activity of the enzymes of the invention include the enzymatic removal of phosphate groups from organophosphate ester compounds and hydrolyzing nucleic acids by hydrolyzing the phosphodiester bridges of DNA and RNA.
