Description
Anordnung zur drahtlosen InformationsübertragungArrangement for wireless information transmission
Beschreibungdescription
The invention relates to an arrangement for wireless information transmission for an electronic device, in particular a notebook, with a rigid radio card that can be inserted via a housing opening into the housing of the device and can be connected therein via a plug-in connection, and has a transmitting unit and optionally a receiving unit, and one that is coupled to the radio card Antenna.
They are approximately the size of a check card and can be inserted into a corresponding device slot and can be connected via a connector at the end to convey the desired application , In addition to the original memory function, wireless communication with external units or networks via a short-range radio link in the radio frequency and microwave range was developed as a further area of use for such interchangeable cards in order to facilitate mobile use and in particular to reduce the wiring effort. It is known to integrate the antenna required for radiation and reception of the electromagnetic waves into the communication or radio card, which has, however, been found to be disadvantageous with regard to the shielding effect of the device housing and device-internal interference radiation. To remedy this, separate rigid antennas have already been proposed, which are usually plugged into the radio card and protrude from the outside of the device housing. Apart from the difficult start-up due to the antenna connector, a rigid antenna on a mobile device is particularly problematic because on the one hand the antenna itself breaks.
BESTATIGUNGSKOPIE
gefährdet ist und andererseits bei unsachgemäßer bzw. unachtsamer Handhabung äußere Kräfte über die Antenne auf die Funkkarte und deren geräteinterne Verbindung eingeleitet werden und zu Beschädigungen führen können.BESTATIGUNGSKOPIE is endangered and, on the other hand, if improperly or carelessly handled, external forces are introduced via the antenna onto the radio card and its internal connection and can lead to damage.
Proceeding from this, the object of the invention is to develop a communication arrangement for mobile devices based on a plug-in radio card, which avoids the problems mentioned and ensures reliable and permanent use with simple construction and handling.
To achieve this object, the combination of features specified in claim 1 is proposed. Advantageous refinements and developments of the invention result from the dependent claims.
The invention is based on the idea of creating a flexible antenna which is permanently connected to the radio card as a functional unit. Accordingly, it is proposed according to the invention that the antenna has a flexible carrier and an antenna element held therein, and that the carrier is anchored to the free end of the radio card facing away from the plug side and protrudes from the housing opening in the operating state. By arranging the flexible carrier together with the antenna element outside the housing, favorable antenna properties are achieved. At the same time, the risk of damage to the radio card is considerably reduced due to the flexible design of the carrier. The firm anchoring of the carrier or the antenna on the card simplifies the use without having to make laborious preparations for operation. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the carrier is formed by a carrier cord that preferably runs in a loop. This achieves good mechanical decoupling between the antenna and the card, in particular against external impact. At the same time, the antenna assumes a defined shape without the need for additional external fixation. A further improvement in this respect is achieved in that the two cord ends of the carrier cord are anchored at a distance from one another on the radio card and in that the length of the carrier cord is greater than the spacing of the cord ends. A favorable ring segment shape of the carrier cord can be achieved in that the cord ends are fastened in the corner regions of the free end of the radio card which is rectangular in outline.
In order to minimize the transmission of force, it is advantageous if the carrier consists of a flexible material, preferably an elastomer.
Another advantageous embodiment provides that the carrier can be detached from the radio card under tensile load at a predetermined separation point. It is advantageous here if at least one of the cord ends of the carrier cord can be separated from the radio card under tensile load when a limit force is exceeded, preferably via repeatedly releasable connecting means.
In order to improve the tensile strength, the carrier cord can have a longitudinal tensile security thread for reinforcement. The antenna properties should not be affected, which is ensured by the fact that the security thread consists of an electrically non-conductive material, in particular of nylon.
Advantageously, a connection point of the security thread with the radio card is designed as a predetermined separation point against excessive tensile load. In order to ensure a defined radiation or reception characteristic, it is advantageous if the antenna element is embedded in the carrier in a fixed position. A further advantageous embodiment provides that the antenna element is formed by a piece of wire that runs inside the carrier cord in its longitudinal direction and is electrically connected to the radio card at a base point.
For modular use in mobile devices, the radio card is advantageously formed by a PC card designed according to the PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association) standard.
In order to be able to use standardized structural units, it is advantageous if the radio card has a combined transmitting and receiving unit operating in a frequency band at 2.4 GHz.
Es zeigenThe invention is explained in more detail below with reference to an exemplary embodiment shown schematically in the drawing. Show it

The arrangement for wireless information transmission shown in the drawing is intended in particular for use in a notebook 10 in order to enable communication or data exchange with external or peripheral devices such as a host computer or printer without wiring. The arrangement essentially consists of a radio card 16 which can be inserted into the housing 14 of the notebook via a housing opening 12 and an antenna 18 arranged thereon.
The radio card 16 is formed by a rigid, approximately credit card-sized, rigid PC card that works according to the PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association) standard and can be connected to the notebook 10 via a corresponding interface and which is provided by suitable structural units Has radio transmission of signals. For this purpose, the radio card 16 has a transceiver 22, which is arranged on a circuit board 20 and forms a combined transmitting and receiving unit, a control module 24 and an interface module 26 (FIG. 3). A plug connector 30 designed according to the PCMCIA specification is arranged on the insertion-side narrow side 28 of the radio card 16. A so-called Bluetooth module can be provided as transceiver 22, which enables short-range signal transmission in the frequency range of 2.4 gigahertz. On the output side, the transceiver 22 is coupled to the antenna 18, the construction of which is explained in more detail below.
As can best be seen from FIGS. 4 and 5, the antenna 18 consists of a flexible carrier 32 and an antenna element 34 held therein. The carrier 32 is composed of a carrier cord which is anchored to the free end 36 of the radio card 16 facing away from the plug side 28 Elastomer designed to be flexible or flexible. The two cord ends 38, 40 of the carrier cord 32 are in the corner regions of the free end 36 the radio card 16 is held on the frame 44 of the radio card 16 via an engaging front collar 42. The carrier cord 32 forms a loop segment protruding in the loop in the plane of the card. Operating state protrudes out of the housing 14 through the housing opening 12 to the outside.
The antenna element 34 consists of a piece of wire vulcanized into the support cord 32, which is connected at a base 46 to the circuit board 20 and extends over part of the length of the support cord 32.
In order to reinforce the carrier cord 32, a continuous tensile but flexurally flexible securing thread 48 made of an insulator material, for example nylon, is provided. The securing thread 48 is fixedly connected at one end 50 to the circuit board 20, while the other thread end 52 forms a reversible setpoint separation point 60 with respect to the radio card 16 via a snap or catch connection 58, for example consisting of a locking pin 54 and a pin-side pin receptacle 56, in order to enable the antenna 18 to be detached from one side in the event of an excessive tensile load above a certain limit force and thus to prevent permanent damage.
