Definitions
- the invention relates to a transport apparatus for heavy loads, comprising an undercarriage with legs, and optionally a mast construction mounted on the undercarriage.
- the transport apparatus may be embodied as platform truck upon which the load to be transported may be placed.
- the transport apparatus is a crane as known, for example, from the Dutch patent 1010355 in the name of applicants.
- This known crane is a so-called revolving crane; the same is embodied with a support ring assembly upon which a rotatable platform ring is provided, with the mast construction being mounted on the platform ring.
- revolving cranes are used for heavy hoisting jobs.
- the crane is supported over a large surface area, making it possible to sustain heavy loads.
- the ability of the platform ring to move about on the support ring assembly, in combination with the variable working radius of the boom, provides the re- volving crane with a large circular working area.
- US-A-2, 452, 632 discloses a transport apparatus for heavy loads comprising an undercarriage with legs, each provided with two individually controllable supporting base plates. It is an object of the invention to fur- ther improve the known transport apparatus, to stabilize and in general to embody it such that the same is largely independent of locally provided facilities.
- the transport apparatus according to the invention is characterized in that during operation always at least one of the two supporting base plates of each leg acts as support for the undercarriage.
- a transport apparatus may be embodied such as to be able to move completely independently without the need of, for example, rail facilities.
- the supporting base plates it is desirable for the supporting base plates to be controllable in three orthogonal directions. In this way each supporting base plate can be placed in an individually determined position, so that it is possible to adjust, for example, the position of the platform truck or revolving crane without changing its particular location on site.
- the three orthogonal directions to be distinguished are the two main directions in the flat horizontal plane, and the direction oriented perpendicularly thereto, i.e. in the vertical height.
- each leg is further desirable for each leg to be provided with three supporting base plates, of which always at least two are positioned on the ground. This allows for a very stable repositioning of the apparatus, since with each supporting base plate's change of position activated at a particular moment, two neighbouring supporting base plates are resting on the ground, thus securing the apparatus being stably positioned. After the activated supporting base plate has been repositioned on the ground, a following neighbouring supporting base plate can be moved from an old to a new position.
- each supporting base plate is connected to the undercarriage via hydraulic pistons.
- hydraulic pistons it should be noted that in principle other manners of activation are also possible, such as an electrical drive.
- hydraulic driving is the most appropriate with regard to the great static and dynamic forces occurring during movement of the apparatus.
- the hydraulic pistons of a supporting base plate can be controlled individually to allow the adjustment of a desired position of that supporting base plate.
- each leg comprising three supporting base plates, and all the supporting base plates being provided with hydraulic pistons, and that a computer system be provided for the individual adjustment of each hydraulic piston.
- the invention will now be further elucidated with reference to the drawing, which in a single figure shows a side view of a transport apparatus for the transport of heavy loads in the form of a crane according to the invention.
- the invention is not limited to this example of a transport apparatus for heavy loads .
- the inven- tion also relates to a platform truck embodied in concurrence with the crane to be discussed below, but without a mast construction.
- the crane depicted in the figure comprises an under carriage 1 under which legs 2 are mounted.
- a mast construction 3-8 which in the illustrated case comprises a boom 3 and a rear mast 4.
- the front mast 3 and the rear mast 4 are coupled with each other via a winch construction 5, and from the rear mast 4 a ballast 6 is suspended.
- stakes 7 and a boom elongation part 8 are provided, via which the hoisting elements 9 are guided.
- at least one of the legs 2 is embodied with at least two supporting base plates 10, wherein each of the supporting base plates can be con- trolled individually such that at least one of the two supporting base plates 10 of each leg 2 fulfils the function of carrying the undercarriage 1.
- the supporting base plates 10 should preferably be designed such that they can be controlled in three independent directions, i.e. in the vertical height and in the direction of the flat horizontal plane.
- the crane possesses three supporting base plates 10 at each leg, of which always at least two are positioned on the ground. In the case illustrated, all the base plates 10 are placed on the ground, however, when the crane has to be repositioned, one supporting base plate of a leg 2 can always be adjusted, while the other two supporting base plates 10 of that leg 2 remain placed on the ground.
