Abstract

Un multiplexeur, destiné notamment à un système de communications SDH, possède, en plus d'une matrice d'interconnexion habituelle à M ports équivalents (10) et d'un nombre N de fentes trafic (16) destinées à recevoir des cartes de trafic associées, un dispositif de distribution large bande (24) placé entre la matrice et les fentes et permettant l'affectation des ports disponibles de la matrice à différentes cartes de trafic sur une base occasionnelle au lieu d'une base fixe comme c'est généralement le cas. Un dispositif de commande couplé au dispositif de distribution large bande est agencé de façon à déterminer les besoins individuels en largeur de bande de chaque carte de trafic en association avec leur nombre de fentes et peut être exploité de façon à donner l'ordre au dispositif de distribution large bande d'affecter un nombre correspondant de ports à chacune des cartes, le nombre total des ports affectés n'excédant pas M. La fonction de distribution large bande peut être réalisée sous forme d'une série de commutateurs asymétriques, un par port équivalent de la matrice, chacun interfaçant l'une des fentes par rapport à l'un des M ports. Les fentes peuvent être aussi bien des cartes tributaires ou des cartes d'interface de ligne.
