Abstract

A holder (21) is attached within a pants (50) pocket (51) with an object (11) secured onto the holder in varying positions and orientations matching varying conditions of use, where preferably the object is a holster (11) which can take various forms in order to holster various articles such as telephones, small computers, and security personnel hand guns (61).

DESCRIPTION

[0001] The product comprises a holder attached within a pants pocket with an object attached onto the holder in varying positions and orientations matching varying conditions of use, where preferably the object is a holster which can take various forms in order to holster various articles such as telephones, small computers, and security personnel hand guns.

[0002] The product provides progress over prior art shown for example in U. S. Patents 1226718 by Noel 8 NOV 1932, 4262832 by Perkins 21 APR 1981 , 4388734 by Cowden 21 JUN 1983, 4741465 by Johnson 3 MAY 1988, 4966320 by DeSantis 30 OCT 1990, 5170919 by DeSantis 15 DEC 1992, 5692237 by Bennett 2 DEC 1997, and 5931358 by Rogers 3 AUG 1999.

[0008] Preferably the product comprises a holster 11 , 11 A, 11B and a holder having a carry side 21, 21 A and a pants side - only visible at 22B. The holster has a first member of a fastener pair - only visible at 31 B - and the carry side has a second member of the fastener pair 32, 32A. The holster can take various forms in order to holster various articles such as telephones, small computers, and security personnel hand guns 61.

[0009] The second member of the fastener pair can be the entire carry side and can be a portion of the carry side. In order for the holster to be in use attached onto the carry side in varying positions and varying orientations to meet varying conditions of use, the second member of the fastener pair is in area at least twice as large as the first member of the fastener pair.

[0010] The holder can be bent about any axis along the holder - for example 101 - by force from the holster and any holstered article and will return when this force is absent. The holder causes force from the holster and any holstered article to be distributed over the holder.

[0011 ] Alternatively the first member of the fastener pair can be attached on an object, such as any of the holstered articles listed above, so that the object can be attached directly to the holder without use of a holster. What is true of the holster and any holstered article then is also true for the object.

[0012] Preferably the product also comprises pants 50, 50A having at least one pocket 51, 51 A, 51 B. The pants side of the holder is attached inside the pants pocket - for example at 58.

[0013] The pants pocket can be a side pocket 51 A depicted in FIG. 3. In this case the pants can have a pleat, and preferably several pleats 52A, over the pocket which cause the pants to lay without showing the holster and any holstered article in relief.

[0014] Also, the outermost surface - for example 57 - of the pocket can be stiffened to bend as a whole over the holster and any holstered article without conforming to parts of the holster and any holstered article so that details of the holster and any holstered article are not shown in relief. This can be done with, and without pleats.

[0015] The pants pocket can also be a cargo pocket 51 depicted in FIG. 1 and FIG. 2 located on the leg aside the lap portion of the pants. The cargo pocket has a top opening which faces upward when the pants are worn standing.

[0016] Here the pleat 52 is part of the pocket. Preferably here there are pleats on the front and the sides 53 which cause the pants to lay without showing the holster and any holstered article in relief. [0017] To provide easy access to a holstered article when a person is sitting, the cargo pocket has a side opening 54 which faces upward when the pants are worn sitting. The side opening can have a zipper 55 closure as depicted and alternatively can be closed by other fasteners. A top flap 56 can be secured to the cargo pocket by various fasteners such as the hook and loop fasteners 59 depicted.

[0018] Alternatively the product can comprise the holder having the second member of a fastener pair and comprise the first member of the fastener pair. The holder can be attached in any pants pocket and the first member of the fastener pair can be attached on any suitable object. Here the holder could be removably attached in a pants pocket.

[0019] The fastener pair can be a hook-and-loop fastener pair. The fastener pair can also be as depicted in FIG. 5 where the first member 31 C of the fastener pair has a first plurality of protruding first stems with any first stem 33 from the first plurality of first stems having a first head - 34 which is in diameter larger than the first stem, and the second member 32C of the fastener pair has a second plurality of second stems with any second stem 35 from the plurality of second stems having a second head 36 which is in diameter larger than the second stem.

[0020] The holster must be given varying secured positions and orientations in a pants pocket to match varying conditions of use. A horizontal orientation is appropriate for sitting, and a more vertical orientation is appropriate for standing. Varying positions relative to a pocket opening can be chosen for varying situations. For this to be, the second member of the fastener pair must be larger than the first member of the pair.

[0021] More than one holster, or object, could be attached to the holder. The first member of the fastener pair can have one component, and can have multiple components such as the two components 31 B.

[0022] The holster and any holstered article should not be shown in relief. Also the holder should not be shown in relief. Thus, the holder should bend with the lay of the pants so that the holder edges will not be shown in relief. For the same reason the holder should not retain any bent shape.

[0023] The holder should distribute the weight of the object over the full holder so that weight of the holster and any holstered article will not distort the lay of the pants and thereby disclose the holster and any holstered article. It is not necessary that the lay of the pants be unchanged, it is only necessary that any change will not disclose the object.

Claims

CLAIMSClaimed is:

1. A concealed carrying product comprising a holder and a first member of a fastener pair attached to an object to be carried, the holder having a carry side and a pants side, the carry side having a second member of the fastener pair, the second member of the fastener pair being in area at least twice as large as the first member of the fastener pair, in use the object being attached at varying positions and in varying orientations on the holder to meet varying conditions of use, the pants side being attached inside a pants pocket.

The product of claim 1 wherein the first member of the fastener pair has a first plurality of protruding first stems with any first stem from the first plurality of first stems having a first head which is in diameter larger than the first stem, and the second member of the fastener pair has a second plurality of second stems with any second stem from the plurality of second stems having a second head which is in diameter larger than the second stem.

3. The product of claim 1 wherein the object is a holster.

4. A concealed carrying product comprising:

a holster having a first member of a fastener pair, in use the holster holding an object;

a holder having a carry side and a pants side, the carry side having a second member of the fastener pair, the second member being in area more than twice as large as the first member, in use the holster being attached at varying positions and in varying orientations on the holder to meet varying conditions of use, the holder being bendable about an axis along the holder by force from the holster and the holstered article, and returning when force is absent, the holder causing force from the holster and the holstered object to be distributed over the holder; and

pants having a pocket, the pants side of the holder being attached in the pocket.

5. The product of claim 4 wherein the pants have a pleat over the pocket.

6. The product of claim 4 wherein the outermost surface of the pocket is stiffened to bend without conforming to parts of the holster and the holstered article.

7. The product of claim 4 wherein the first member of the fastener pair has a first plurality of protruding first stems with any first stem from the first plurality of first stems having a first head which is in diameter larger than the first stem, and the second member of the fastener pair has a second plurality of second stems with any second stem from the plurality of second stems having a second head which is in diameter larger than the second stem.

The product of claim 4 wherein the pocket is a cargo pocket located on a pants leg aside the lap portion of the pants, the cargo pocket having a top opening which faces upward when the pants are worn standing, the cargo pocket having a side opening which faces upward when the pants are worn sitting, and the side opening having a side closure.

9. A concealed carrying product comprising:

a holster having a first member of a fastener pair, in use the holster containing a holstered article;

pants having a cargo pocket located on a pants leg aside the lap portion of the pants, the cargo pocket having a top opening which faces upward when the pants are worn standing, the cargo pocket having a side opening which faces upward when the pants are worn sitting, and the side opening having a side closure; a holder having a carry side and a pants side, the pants side being attached within the cargo pocket, the carry side having a second member of the fastener pair, the second member being in area more than twice as large as the first member with in use the holster being attached at varying positions and in varying orientations on the holder to meet varying conditions of use, the holder being bendable about an axis along the holder by force from the holster and the holstered article, and returning when the force is absent, the holder causing force from the holster and holstered article to be distributed over the holder; and

the first member of the fastener pair having a first plurality of protruding first stems with each first stem from the first plurality of first stems having a first head which is in diameter larger than the first stem, and the second member of the fastener pair having a second plurality of second stems with each second stem from the plurality of second stems having a second head which is in diameter larger than the second stem.
