Definitions
- the idea of the Acoustic Equipped Wall pursues the two following aims: the one of the functional element of fittings practical for the placing of electronic apparatus (TV, VCR.) and software (VHS, CD). the one of functional element in the acoustic correction of the professional/domestic environments , where musical programmes of every kind are reproduced, included the use of the home-theatre systems.
- the aim of the acoustic correction consists in the achievement of a correct intelligibility of the musical and spoken message. Everybody knows that in a limited range (with the presence of reflecting surfaces ) the laws of the resonance and the reflection are valid that, if not controlled , weigh negatively on the sound quality.
- the quipped wall placed behind the sound source, cheks the resonances and the reflections , exploiting the physical-acoustic principles of the absorption and of the sound diffusion.
- the pedestal element (fig. 1) has got the acoustic working of sound speaker and sound absorber for low frequency.
- the first property is made useful by the convex shape that for acoustic law spreads more the sound than a level surface; the second quality has been obtained taking advantage of the existing principle of absorption by resonance.
- the element consists of 8 sound diffusors :that is some cavities put in touch with the outside with a hole called "neck of the diffusor" When the diffusor is hit by a bundles of sound-waves, the air inside the neck makes some vibrations; these ones are transmitted to the zone contained in the cavity giving rise to some expansions and compressions.
- the element is composed of the column and the tower (fig.2):the first works as diffusor and cylindrical absorber: the first property is made useful by the curved surface that reflects the acoustic rays with more divergency than a level surface, and it's efficacious for wave length of frequency over 400 Hz; the second quality has been obtained exploiting the principle of cylindrical absorbers : the area into the cylinder gets in resonance if pressed by some frequencies ,inside some expansions and compressions happen and the energy necessary spent for this phenomenous is transformed in heat and so we have the sound energy absorption. The presence of fibre glass into the cylinder has increased the absorbing power.
- the absorbing capacity is connected with the cylinder diameter ;with verifiable values, an absorption around the 80 Hz has been calculated.
- the element has been achieved with sheet laid one upon the other in curved ply-wood reaching a thickness of 1,2 cm.
- the superficial finalshing touches have been obtained with an opaque lacquering.
- the interior area has been divided , with wooden cirlless, into 3 cavities of equal quantity ,that have been partially filled up with fibre glass.
- the tower element has the double function of CD, VHS, DVD container and absorber element for high frequencies :this property is done from the presence on the frontal side of the cloth put to cover the doors.
- the cloth has been set on a plywood recovered with foam rubber .
- the existing principle of porosity absorption is exploited :the sound energy hitting a porous surface partly is absorbed penetrating inside the pores and dissipating for the stickiness of the area and for the attrition of the pore walls.
- the element consists of 3 spaces with door closing and it has been created in a lot of layers with final touches in maple ply- wood.
- the panel element (fig.3) exploits the principle of diaphragm acoustic absorber: it's composed of a vibrant panell wooden ply-wood with 4 mm of thickness separated from a multi layer panel 2 cm thick with 2 vertical rods; in that way an air space of
- the absorption mechanism is vibratory: the sound waves that weigh on this structure give rise to a vibration ,through that a part of the sound energy will be transformed in heat the other will be re-irradiated in the environment.
- the central panel element (fig.4) is created with the connection of two parts in equal measure and it has the function of sound diffusor : it consists of levels in M.D. assembled in different inclination, by means of listels, on a multi layer panel with 2 cm of thickness, the surface has been finished with an opaque lacquering. The sound rays hitting the surfaces with different inclinations, are reflected in different directions , so increasing the diffusion more than a level surface.
- the drawers (fig. 5) have the double aim of VHS, CD, DVD holder and of absorbing element for high frequencies. This property is given by the presence of the cloth has been assembled on a ply-wood covered in foamrubber, so as to exploit the porousity absorption principle.
- the drawers have been made in multilayer finished in maple ply-wood, and are divided into three inner spaces, accessible through doors with flap opening.
- the central carriage (fig.6) has the function of support for the electronics; it consists of a structure in iron -boxes welded, and of support levels in glass with 1 cm of thickness. It is divided into 4 sections: the upper one that supports the TV, the two centrals for the insertion of NCR, DVD, CD, amplifiers .finally the lower one that supports a drawer made in multilayer with final touches in maple ply-wood.
- the carriage can be drawen on with a system of tracks fastened to the floor, in that way the linking operation of the electronic apparatus is facilitated .
- the bottom of the carriage has been closed with a "medite" panel finishing with lacquering which has the function to cover the connection cables of the electronic apparatus.
- the penthouse (fig.7) is placed on the top and with an ornamental value; formally in harmonic dissonance with the symmetry of the wall, it visually links the different components of the equipped wall. It has been achieved with the superimposition of many sheet of curved ply- wood and finished with maple ply-wood covering.
- the equipped wall is in fact composed of single elements that allow the complete adaptability to different dimensions environments, even its assembling is made easy.
