This ensures backwards-compatible transmission since, on the one hand, the additional signals can be separated from the video signal and processed further in a straightforward manner at the receiving end but, on the other hand, the video signal itself is not interfered with and, therefore, the video signals can also be reproduced without interference on conventional receivers.
- the additional signals are transmitted as teletext signals. This makes it possible for the separation of the additional signals from the video signals to be carried out by the teletext decoder which is present in any case in the television set.

A cet effet, des signaux vidéo et des signaux supplémentaires qui peuvent être utilisés pendant la reproduction des signaux vidéo afin d"agir physiquement sur le corps humain ou de permettre une sensation associée au contenu des signaux vidéo affichés sont transmis et/ou enregistrés ensemble en tant qu"un seul signal de télévision. Dans le cas d"un signal de télévision analogique, les signaux supplémentaires sont introduits dans l"intervalle vidéo vertical du signal de télévision, avantageusement en tant que signaux télétext. Si le signal de télévision est transmis ou enregistré numériquement, en particulier selon une norme MPEG, les signaux supplémentaires sont introduits dans ce qui est appelé les données_d"utilisateur des entensions_et_données_d"utilisateur de la couche d"images.
