Abstract

Un système permettant de modulariser la fonctionnalité d'un dispositif électronique (10) comprend un premier mécanisme qui sépare différents blocs fonctionnels du dispositif électronique en modules de matériel séparables dans l'espace via des liaisons (38, 40) de communication reconfigurables dans l'espace. Dans une forme de réalisation spécifique, les liaisons de communication reconfigurables dans l'espace sont des liaisons par rayons infrarouges ou des liaisons optiques. Le système selon la présente invention permet de construire un dispositif intégré (10) qui comprend un émetteur-récepteur sans fil (34) et un premier circuit (16) qui permet à une interface utilisateur de recevoir des signaux d'entrée et de produire des signaux de sortie. Un deuxième circuit (18) traite les signaux d'entrée et envoie les signaux de sortie au premier circuit. Un troisième circuit établit des communications sans fil entre les premier et deuxième circuits. Dans une forme de réalisation représentative, le premier circuit (16) reçoit des signaux d'entrée vocale et le deuxième circuit traite les signaux d'entrée vocale. Le premier circuit comprend un haut-parleur qui produit des signaux vocaux de sortie et un quatrième circuit (14) qui assure une interface utilisateur optique. Le troisième circuit établit des communications sans fil locales entre les premier, deuxième, troisième et/ou quatrième circuits. Le deuxième circuit (12) comprend un mécanisme qui assure le traitement (34) des appels et des services (28) de diagnostic. Le troisième circuit comprend un système de transport point-à-point tel que le système BlueTooth.
