Abstract

L'invention porte sur un réseau cellulaire de télécommunications comportant une série de cellules (112) dont les stations de base (114) sont munies d'antennes intelligentes. En relation avec le transfert à une station mobile potentielle (116) les stations de base munies d'antennes intelligentes des cellules candidates au transfert informent (228) non seulement sur l'intensité du signal de vérification mais aussi sur la direction mesurée de l'angle d'orientation de l'azimut de réception et/ou sur l'identité d'un des faisceau étroits séparés requis pour desservir cette station mobile après le transfert. Une des cellules candidates est alors sélectionnée (232) comme cellule cible de transfert et des instructions (234, 236) relatives à l'exécution du transfert lui sont fournies, lesdites instructions comprenant les informations de direction/faisceau préalablement communiquées par cette cellule cible. Le faisceau particulier, de ceux désigné par l'information de direction/faisceau reçue, est alors activé (238) dans la cellule cible et le transfert de la station mobile vers cette cellule est commandé (240).
