Abstract

Cette invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif d'émulsification qui consistent à traiter conjointement des liquides en exerçant une action mécanique. Les liquides à traiter sont envoyés dans la chambre (1) d'une roue de travail (2) rotative et comportant des pales. Le mélange de liquides est ensuite évacué de la chambre de la roue de travail par l'intermédiaire d'une série d'ouvertures de sortie (8) pratiquées dans ladite roue, puis envoyé dans une chambre annulaire (5) qui se situe entre la paroi périphérique annulaire (20) de la roue de travail et la paroi coaxiale et opposée (21) d'un stator (4). L'émulsion est ensuite déchargée de la chambre annulaire vers l'orifice de sortie du stator soit directement, soit par l'intermédiaire d'une série d'ouvertures de drainage (11) qui peuvent être pratiquées dans la paroi coaxiale et opposée (21) du stator. On respecte en outre les relations empiriques et préférées suivantes: R = 1,1614 K (mm), ΔR = 1,1614 C (mm) et n = 3,8396 K?-1,5 x 106¿ (t/min.). R représente le rayon de la surface périphérique de la roue de travail, ΔR représente la dimension radiale de la chambre annulaire, n représente la vitesse de rotation de la roue de travail, K représente le nombre d'ouvertures de sortie de la roue de travail et C est un nombre entier qui varie de 1 à K/5. Cette invention permet d'obtenir par des moyens techniques simples et hautement efficaces des émulsions à dispersion élevée et d'une stabilité durable à partir de liquides insolubles l'un dans l'autre. Ces émulsions peuvent trouver de nombreuses applications, notamment dans l'extraction pétrolière, dans la transformation des produits pétroliers, dans les centrales thermoélectriques, dans les carburants, dans la construction routière, ainsi que dans de nombreuses autres branches de l'industrie.
