Abstract

La présente invention concerne de nouvelles pièces améliorées pour voitures et camions légers. Plus spécifiquement, certaines pièces traditionnellement fabriquées en acier, parfois en acier trempé, telles que les chemises de cylindres, différentes pièces de distribution, disques d'embrayage, rotors de freinage et pistons des étriers de freins, peuvent être désormais fabriquées en matériaux à base d'aluminium, ce qui permet de réaliser un gain pondéral considérable. Un matériau composite à matrice métallique en aluminium/nitrure d'aluminium est appliqué sur les surfaces de contact ou d'usure de manière à leur conférer une résistance adéquate à l'abrasion, et protéger ainsi les pièces d'engrenement d'une usure excessive. La couche composite à matrice métallique peut être appliquée sur un substrat composite à matrice métallique ou sur un substrat en aluminium non armé. La surface en aluminium/nitrure d'aluminium est également plus facile à usiner que la plupart des matériaux composites à matrice métallique.
