Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for mobile communication.
- a gyro sensor is known from [1]. This is a sensor for recording a movement, in particular the acceleration with which the movement is carried out.
- a pressure sensor is preferably a sensor designed as a button, the contact of which is closed as soon as a predetermined pressure is exerted.
- a user authenticates himself with his signature.
- the signature is compared to a model signature and the authentication is successful if the model signature and the one provided
- Handwriting recognition takes place in numerous commercially available pocket computers for the administration and organization of appointments and / or addresses.
- a device for mobile communication (cell phone or cell phone) is generally known.
- the object of the invention is to provide a device for mobile communication with which convenient operation is made possible.
- a device for mobile communication which has a transmitting and receiving unit for carrying out the mobile communication. There is also a first sensor, which sensor records movements carried out with the device. The device also has a processor unit for storing and further processing the movements carried out with the device.
- the device is designed similar to a pen and that writing movements carried out with the device are recorded using the first sensor.
- a user can authenticate to the device by simply using the
- the Device makes a signature.
- the signature is recorded using the first sensor and compared with a reference signature using the processor unit.
- a known signature verification method ensures that the signature provided by the device authenticates the authorized user.
- the handling of the device for mobile communication as a pen with which a signature is made corresponds to a natural process which is well known to the user and meets with high acceptance. Characteristics that are peculiar to the user, that is, identifiers of his signature, are used for authentication. The user also does not have to remember an identification number (PIN). Authentication by means of a signature accordingly enables a natural and extremely secure method of user authentication. 3
- the first sensor is a gyro sensor or a trackball.
- a trackball is an input device, which preferably consists of a rotatably mounted ball, the rotation of the ball being converted into a movement that can be used by a computer via suitable sensors.
- the trackball can also be thought of as an "upside down” (mechanical) computer mouse, the electronic positioning of which is done by moving the ball.
- movements that are carried out with the device for mobile communication are recorded and stored in a memory by means of the computer.
- the data obtained are recognized using a handwriting recognition method.
- the signature of the user can be verified, on the other hand it is possible for the user to make handwritten entries which are converted into executable commands for the device for mobile communication by means of the handwriting recognition method.
- An example is the handwritten entry of telephone numbers, which can be used by the device for mobile communication directly to establish a connection.
- Device comprises a display unit on which the handwritten input after handwriting recognition is displayed for checking. As soon as a handwritten telephone number is actually dialed, it can be displayed to the user. Has the
- a small display unit in the pen can provide information about the handwritten characters.
- handwritten commands can be transmitted to the device for mobile communication by the user having a 4 carries out handwritten input, which input corresponds to a predetermined command that triggers a predetermined action on the device.
- predefined actions are setting the volume or pitch of the ring or programming optional parameters (lighting, standby time, etc.).
- a second sensor is provided which is set up in such a way that the first sensor is activated by actuating the second sensor.
- the second sensor can be a pressure sensor which, when actuated, indicates that the first sensor can now expect a handwritten entry.
- the second sensor can also be designed as a button that is pressed by the user when he wants to make an entry.
- the second sensor can also be a pushbutton coupled to the first sensor, whereby it is ensured that when the first sensor is pressed by pressing on a surface (and thus marking the start of a handwritten input), handwriting recognition begins or is interrupted when the pushbutton is pressed is no longer closed.
- a means for recognizing characters is provided, which means is set up in such a way that a font corresponding to the movements recorded by the first sensor can be recognized
- a means for authenticating the user is provided, which means is set up in such a way that the font is compared with a predefined pattern and a similarity measure is determined, the user being authenticated if the similarity measure is less than a predefined threshold value. or the user is not authenticated if the 5 Similarity measure is not less than the specified threshold.
- the first sensor is arranged on a pen-shaped input device and the second sensor can also be arranged on this pen-shaped input device, in particular the pen-shaped input device being provided in addition to the device for mobile communication.
- the pen-shaped input device is part of the device for mobile communication, the pen-shaped input device being connected to the device for mobile communication via a predetermined interface (e.g. a cable or a radio interface)
- a predetermined interface e.g. a cable or a radio interface
- the pen-shaped input device enables handwritten entries, be it for user authentication, for entering telephone numbers, data (addresses, appointments) commands or notes for the device for mobile communication, which notes can be stored either before or after handwriting recognition.
- handwritten input preferably being converted into a computer-readable format, for example ASCII code
- handwritten input can also be saved without handwriting recognition (eg as a bitmap graphic, ie in the form of individual pixels). So it may not always be necessary to recognize the content of the handwritten input: If, for example, a fax is sent using the device for mobile communication, it may be irrelevant what the content of this fax is; the only thing that is important is the possibility of data acquisition (Digitization) of handwritten input and transmission by fax to one 6 addressees. In this way, sketches or diagrams can also be sent to the addressee without their content having to be laboriously recognized.

- the sensor SENS preferably has a correct writing tip with which writing is also carried out on the base to record the movement. This is important for the acceptance of the user, since the size ratios of the font are better guaranteed by visual feedback and thus a recognition is made easier.
- the user sees his input and can correct it if necessary or discard the input.
- only the name of the addressee is entered by hand to enter the telephone number to be dialed. The corresponding telephone number is automatically determined and dialed by the computer based on the name.

- Block 402 identifies the input of the signature by means of which the user authenticates himself to the device for mobile communication.
- the keyboard for entering the telephone number is replaced by the pen that writes the telephone number.
- the device is preferably programmed by entering telephone numbers by hand.
- Data associated with the telephone numbers are communicated by handwritten input of the mobile communication device (cf. block 404).
- Commands that relate to the options or functions of the mobile phone are communicated to this mobile phone via handwritten input (cf. block 405). Notes that can be made intuitively by hand are also recorded by the device for mobile communication (cf. block 406).
- Handwritten input is also suitable for the transmission of short messages (short term service, SMS) (cf. block 407).
- the handwritten input is also preferably to be transmitted as a fax (cf. block 408) to an addressee.
- a fax cf. block 408
- it is not the content of the handwritten input that is to be recognized, but the handwritten input becomes transparent, i.e. without considering the content, sent to the addressee via fax.
- recognized handwritten lettering is also reported visually (via display) or acoustically (via loudspeaker) for fax or SMS.
- the selection of the subscriber and subsequent transmission of the service (fax or SMS) is preferably carried out after said check.
