Abstract

La présente invention concerne un procédé et un appareil d'identification des différences visuellement perceptibles entre deux images d'entrée. On produit d'abord une première image de contraste à partir de la première image d'entrée, et une seconde image de contraste à partir de la seconde image d'entrée. On forme ensuite une image de différence de contraste à partir de ces deux images de contraste. Les pixels sélectionnés dans l'image de différence de contraste sont différents en intensité, par rapport aux pixels correspondants dans la première image de contraste, par une valeur seuil déterminée par l'intensité des pixels correspondants dans la première image de contraste. Les pixels sélectionnés peuvent être appliqués pour contrôler les performances des circuits à compression des signaux de télévision, de manière à contrôler la fidélité de l'image.
