  • a moulded power and/or motion transmission component comprising: a) a core portion of a polymeric plastics first material, and b) a skin portion of a polymeric plastics second material bonded to the core portion, wherein the skin portion extends over at least the part of the component which in use makes contact with another component, the first material is stronger than the second material, and the second material has a lower coefficient of friction than the first material but is a mechanical load-bearing material .
  • the first and second materials must be chosen to give sufficient bond strength between the core and the skin portions .
  • the core of the component is preferably made from a polymer containing strengthening reinforcement whilst the skin is made from a material chosen to give low friction, support Hertzian stresses, and have good wear properties.

Abstract

Moulage en deux parties destiné à servir d'engrenage, came ou poulie dans un système de transmission comprenant un noyau constitué d'un polymère renforcé, tel que le nylon ou l'acétal, pour assurer une bonne résistance, et une pellicule externe en plastique polymère lequel présente de bonnes propriétés tribologiques, et est également un matériau résistant aux charges mécaniques. La pellicule peut être constituée d'un nylon ou acétal pur, ou contenir un produit PTFE et/ou de la silicone et/ou du bisulfure de molybdène.
