Abstract

The invention is about a device to hold paint pots and paint brushes (figure 1 to 4). It is shaped with a hook, that makes it possible to place it on a ladder or in a belt while working. The holding device consists of a hook ending in a fixed jaw with a notch and with a barb. An axis is placed above the notch. A movable jaw can turn around the axis. The jaws are shaped to allow for a sliding bolt to be moved upwards and downwards relative to the axis. In this way the jaws can be locked firmly. The fixed jaw is shaped so as to fit with a starshaped holder for paint brushes (see figure 1). The mounting is done by first loosening the sliding bolt, then to place the paint pot betweeen the jaws, and then to press down the sliding bolt so that the jaws are locked together.

Where to use the invention

The invention is about a device to hold paint pots and paint brushes for use with different sizes of paint pots and paint brushes.

The holding device is ent to hang on a ladder or in a belt/ pocket, and additionally to provide support for up to tree brushes of different sizes during work with different kind of tasks (for exampel small brushes for painting corners and bigger brushes for painting wide surfaces) and for use during pauses or breakes in the work.

Known technology

Form the following patents: US 2.541.390, US 2.993.672 og US 5.145.226 different kind of holders for paint pots are known. The patent US 5.145.226 further describes a holder for paint brushes for outward fitting on a paint pot .

From the danish patent DK 94.00299 a holder for paint pots and the like is known. This is designed in a one-piece metal with spring qualities and a with a barb for fastening on the outside of the paint pot. It does not include a holder for paint brushes.

The technical problem to be solved

The above mentioned holders all share the characteristic that they are designed for fixating of the paint pot with either a buckling device or by a spring force that is dependent on the material itself. Both principles are awkward in situations where the paint pot has to be fixed to or removed from the holder. In addition to this the existing holders have problems with handling uneven paint pots, where the thickness of the bend rim at the top of the paint pots varies within certain limits. The need is for at more suitable - that is a more safe and more handy - solution for fastening all kinds of paint pots. In addition to this the need is for a more suitable combination with a holder for paint brushes, as the brush holder described in the patent US 5.145.226 is held separate from the paint pot itself. This results in the need for additional cleaning of the brush holder.

The new technology.

The new aspect of the design is, that the paint pot holder is designed as a hook ending in a fixed jaw with a notch and with barbs. An axis is placed above the notch. A movabel jaw can turn around said axis. The jaws are shaped to allow for a sliding bolt to be moved upwards and downwards relative to the axis. In this way the jaws can be locked firmly. The fixed jaw is shaped so as to fit with a starεhaped holder for paint brushes (see illustration 1) .

Mode for carrying out the invention.

By using the above described technique, it is obtained that all kind of paint pots can be placed in the opening between the jaws; the sliding bolt takes care of easy and safe fixation of the jaws in the desired position, and the brush holder is placed directly above the paint pot so as to allow for the brush to drip directly down into the paint pot.

The mounting is done by first loosening the sliding bolt, then to place the paint pot between the jaws, and then to press down the sliding bolt so that the jaws are locked together.

Claims

PATBUTCLAIMS;

1. Holder for paint pots with an external or an external rim, designed as a hook(l) that is extended downwards as a jaw(8) with a notch(4) and with a barb (5), that goes down along the inside of the container, and an axis (6) for a movable jaw, and a movable jaw(2) with a curve that is placed on the outside of the container. Said movabel jaw can be fixated by means of a sliding bolt (3) hereby enabling fixation of any kind of paint pot, see illustration 1-3.

2. A holder as claimed in claim 1, shaped so as to fit with a starshaped holder for holding paint brushes (see illustration 1).

3. A holder as claimed in claim 1 or 2 , made in plastic .

4. A holder as claimed in claim 1 or 2, made in metal.
