Abstract

A computer capable of a modem reset in case of a modem down due to an external communication hazard. The computer has a modem which includes a modem reset section for generating a modem reset signal in response to an input of a reset switch, a combining section for combining the modem reset signal and a system reset signal, and a modem chip for checking whether the computer is in a standby state for waiting for an external response due to the external hazard during execution of a communication application program, and for being reset in response to the reset signal provided from the combining section if the computer is in the standby state.
