Description

The invention relates to a modular system allowing the realization of a choice of seats or beds and, more particularly, the realization of a choice of an armchair with armrests, a fireside chair, a sofa, a single bed or a 'a double bed.
Modular systems are already known for allowing, for example, to convert a sofa into a double bed, a fireside chair or an ottoman into a single bed. On the other hand, such modular systems do not make it possible, from the sole elements constituting them, to be converted, as desired, into an armchair with armrests, sofa, fireside chair, single bed or double bed.
An object of the present invention is therefore to propose a modular multi-functional system. More particularly, an object of the present invention is to propose a modular system which, by itself, is capable of fulfilling five functions, namely: armchair with armrests, fireside chair, sofa, single bed or double bed.
A cet effet, l'invention propose un système modulable comportant au moins deux modules, chacun des modules comprenant au moins :To this end, the invention proposes a modular system comprising at least two modules, each of the modules comprising at least:
- un premier élément constitué d'un premier et d'un deuxième blocs de mousse de dimensions identiques, reliés entre eux par une bande de tissu, la longueur de la bande de tissu étant supérieure à au moins deux fois l'épaisseur d'un bloc de mousse ;a first element consisting of first and second blocks of foam of identical dimensions, interconnected by a strip of fabric, the length of the strip of fabric being greater than at least twice the thickness of a foam block;
- un second élément constitué d'un troisième bloc de mousse de dimensions inférieures au premier ou au deuxième bloc de mousse ; la combinaison des deux modules permettant au système modulable d'être converti au choix en sièges ou en lits.- A second element consisting of a third block of foam of dimensions smaller than the first or the second block of foam; the combination of the two modules allowing the modular system to be converted into a choice of seats or beds.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the first and the second block of foam being in a horizontal plane and opposite by two of their small faces, the strip of fabric is fixed by two of its edges opposite to a large face of the first and second blocks of foam, respectively, so that said opposite edges are respectively distant from said small faces of a length corresponding substantially to the thickness of the first or second block of foam.
The invention also relates to the use of a modular system in accordance with the invention for the optional production of an armchair with armrests, at least one fireside chair, a sofa, a double bed or a sofa bed. '' at least one single bed.

A modular system in accordance with the invention and composed of at least two modules A, B. Each module comprises at least a first element 1 and at least a second element 8. The first element 1 consists of a first block of foam 2 and a second block of foam 3 interconnected by a strip of fabric 5. This first 2 and second blocks of foam 3 have identical dimensions.
In the embodiment shown, each of the blocks 2, 3 has the shape of a straight parallelepiped having two large faces 2a, 3a respectively and four small faces 2b, 3b respectively.
The strip of fabric connecting the first 2 and the second block of foam 3 has a length greater than at least twice the thickness of a block of foam 2, 3. More particularly, the dimensions of the strip of fabric 5 are substantially identical to those of a large face 2a, 3a of the first 2 or of the second block of foam 3.
The fabric strip 5 is fixed to the first 2 and to the second foam block 3 so as to allow the first element 1 to occupy, as desired, three positions, namely: a folded position, an unfolded position and an open position.
In the folded position, the first 2 and second foam blocks 3 are superimposed so that one of the large faces 2a of the first foam block 2 completely covers one of the two large faces 3a of the second foam blocks 3 ( figure 1) .
With reference to FIG. 2 or to FIG. 3, the unfolded position is obtained by unfolding the first element 1 illustrated in FIG. 1. Thus, the first 2 and the second block of foam 3 are in a horizontal plane and opposite l of each other. More specifically, the first 2 and the second block of foam 3 are opposite one another by two of their small faces 2b, 3b and spaced from one another by a length 1 ^ of fabric strip 5.
With reference to FIG. 4, the open position is obtained from the unfolded position of the element 1. It is obtained by placing the first 2 and the second block of foam 3 in a vertical plane, opposite by two of their large faces 2a, 3a. In this open position, the first 2 and the second block of foam 3 are spaced from each other by a length 1 2 of fabric 5 greater than the length 1 ^.
The possibility for the first element 1 of the modular system to have three positions is obtained by the particular way in which the strip of fabric 5 is fixed to the first 2 and to the second foam block 3. Thus, the first 2 and the second foam block 3 being in a horizontal plane and facing two of their small faces 2b, 3b, the strip of fabric 5 is fixed by two of its opposite sides 5a, 5b to a large face 2a, 3a of the first 2 and the second block of foam 3, respectively, so that said opposite sides 5a, 5b are respectively distant from said small faces 2b, 3b of a length 1 3 corresponding substantially to the thickness of the first 2 or of the second block of foam 3.
The fixing of the strip of fabric 5 on the large faces 2a, 3a of the first 2 and of the second block of foam 3, respectively, is carried out in a continuous or discontinuous line. In other words, only the edges of the strip of fabric 5 are fixed to the large faces 2a, 3a of the first 2 and second block of foam 3, so as to allow the strip of fabric 5 to have a length 1 ^ or 1 2 , ι 2 being greater than l- j _, depending on whether the first element 1 of the modular system occupies the unfolded position or the open position, respectively.
The fixing of the strip of fabric 5 to the first 2 and to the second block of foam 3 by its opposite sides 5a, 5b can be carried out in a removable manner or not. Thus, the fastening means 7 can be in the form for example of a velcro strip (registered trademark) or of a zipper or of pressure. According to another possible embodiment, the means 7 can consist of stitches.
The sides 5c, 5d of the fabric strip 5 may also include removable fixing means 7 such as for example a velcro strip (registered trademark) or pressures.
In a possible embodiment of the invention shown in Figure 2, the fastening means 7 can be arranged directly on the side 5c of the fabric strip 5 and on a flap 6 on the side 5d of the fabric strip 5 of so that, when the flap 6 is folded over the fabric strip 5, inwards, the fastening means 7 is visible.
The first 2 and / or the second foam block 3 also comprises removable fixing means 4. These are arranged on one of the large faces 2a, 3a of the foam blocks 2, 3 so as to be visible when the first element 1 is in the folded position (Figure 1). The fixing means 4 are arranged parallel to the sides 5a, 5b of the strip of fabric 5 and are αistants from the small face 2b, 3b furthest from the strip of fabric 5 of a length corresponding substantially to half the thickness of the first 2 or of the second block of foam 3.
These removable fastening means 4 may for example be a velcro strip (registered trademark), a zipper or snaps.
Chacun des modules A, B comprend également un second élément 8 constitué d'un troisième bloc de mousse 9 de dimensions inférieures au premier 2 ou au deuxième bloc de mousse 3.Each of the modules A, B also comprises a second element 8 consisting of a third block of foam 9 of dimensions smaller than the first 2 or the second block of foam 3.
More particularly, the dimensions of the third foam block 9 are such that it can be inserted between the first 2 and the second foam block 3 when the first element 1 of the modular system is in the unfolded position. In other words, the third block of foam 9 occupies all the space delimited by the small faces 2b, 3b of the first 2 and second blocks of foam 3 and the free sides 5c, 5d of the strip of fabric 5.
In the embodiment shown, the third block of foam 9 is in the form of a straight parallelepiped having two large faces 9a connected together by four sections 9b, 9c, identical in pairs, the sections 9b being larger in area than slices 9c. The third foam block 9 also includes removable fixing means 10 such as velcro tape (registered trademark), zipper, pressures ... These removable fixing means 10 are arranged substantially on the middle part of one of the sections 9b, over its entire length.
The invention will now be more particularly described with reference to Figures 6 to 10 which illustrate the different possible modes of conversion of the modular system according to the invention.
To obtain an armchair with armrests, we start with a first element 1A in the open position (module A) and a first element IB (module B) in the unfolded position. The first element 1A is placed on one of the two foam blocks 2, 3 of the first element IB, so that the fabric strip 5 of the first element 1A covers one of the two foam blocks 2, 3 of the first element IB. The first element IB is brought back from the unfolded position to the folded position (FIG. 6B). Thus, the first element 1A forms the armrests and the first element IB forms the seat of the chair. The flaps are released covering respectively the fixing means 4 of the first element IB and the fixing means 10 of the second element 8A or 8B, and the latter is placed between the armrests formed by the first element 1A (FIG. 6C).
To obtain a fireside chair, we start with a first element 1A or IB in the folded position (FIG. 7A). The flap is opened covering respectively the fixing means 4 of the first element 1A or IB and the fixing means 10 of the second element 8A or 8B. The fastening means 4 of the first element 1A or IB are made to cooperate with the means of fixing 10 of the second element SA or SB to obtain the fireside chair (Figure 7B).
En référence aux figures 8A et 8B, pour obtenir un lit à une place, on part d'un premier élément 1A ou IB en position dépliée, et on insère entre les deux blocs de mousse 2, 3 du premier élément 1A ou IB un second élémentWith reference to FIGS. 8A and 8B, to obtain a single bed, one starts from a first element 1A or IB in the unfolded position, and a second is inserted between the two foam blocks 2, 3 of the first element 1A or IB element
8A ou 8B.8A or 8B.
They are placed side by side so as to be able to join them together by the fixing means 7. The assembly consisting of the first element 1A and the first element IB is passed from the unfolded position to the folded position (FIG. 9B). In the same way as on the fireside chair, the second elements 8A and 8B are fixed to the assembly constituted by the first element 1A and the first element IB.
With reference to FIGS. 10A to 10C, to obtain a double bed, one starts from the first elements 1A, IB in the unfolded position. They are joined together using the fixing means 7. The second elements 8A, 8B are inserted into the remaining free space between the foam blocks 2, 3 of the first elements 1A, IB.
The modular system can also include a pouffe capable of completing the multi-functionality of the modular system of the invention, since it can be used as an annex pouffe when the modular system is convertible into a sofa, double or single bed. This pouffe can also become a fireside chair when the modular system is an armchair with armrests, or become the armrest of the modular system when the latter is a sofa.
