Abstract

A plastic card (1) contains one or several electronic chips (6). The body of the card contains a group (2) of components such as capacitors (4), coils (3), galvanic contacts (5), chips (6), galvanic connections (7), chip parts (14, 15), optoelectronic sending and receiving elements, switching elements such as switches, keyboard or coder, data and energy exchange components between card and external reading/transmitting apparatus, rectifiers, or a combination of such components. The chip(s) (6) exchange data and/or energy (7) with apparatus (8) external to the chip card by means of the group (2) of components or some components of the group (2). The card (1) can carry out various data and/or energy exchange processes, depending on the various properties of the components and on the operating mode of apparatus (8). The plastic card thus offers several possibilities of exchanging energy and/or data with apparatus in its environment.
