Abstract

Cette invention concerne un procédé permettant de placer un sujet dans la réalité virtuelle, lequel procédé consiste à créer un espace virtuel dans lequel des objets apparaissent, se déplacent et disparaissent d'une manière donnée ou aléatoire. L'espace virtuel ainsi formé est présenté à un sujet, puis transformé en fonction des déplacements physiques et réels du sujet dans l'espace réel, ceci tout en tenant compte des interactions avec les objets de l'espace virtuel. Le sujet est placé sur estrade en un point de référence initial de manière qu'il puisse effectuer, lors de l'interaction avec les objets de l'espace virtuel, un certain nombre de pas sur cette estrade dans quelque direction que ce soit. On définit ensuite le nombre, la grandeur et la direction des pas effectués par le sujet sur l'estrade par rapport au point de référence initial, puis l'on compense le déplacement des pieds du sujet de manière que ce dernier reste sur l'estrade pendant l'interaction avec l'espace virtuel. En fonction du nombre, de la grandeur et de la direction des pas du sujet, on effectue une transformation complémentaire de l'espace virtuel que l'on présente audit sujet.
