- Fig. 2 shows an open web 10 suitable for use in a potato harvester (not shown) comprising two elongate belts 11 extending parallel to each other and a large plurality of rods 12 mounted in regular parallel spaced apart relation. Opposite end portions 13 of the rods 12 are embedded inside respective ones of the two elongate belts 11 which are made of polyurethane and reinforced with three polyamide webbing tapes 14. As shown in the detail view, the end faces 12a of the rods 12 are set back slightly from the outer sides 11a of the belts 11 so that the end portions 13 of the rods are fully enclosed thereby minimizing the risk of damage to crops or to the machinery from sharp corners and edges on the ends of the rods. In order to reduce the risk of damage to the belts 11, these may also conveniently have included therein a steel mesh layer 19 or the like just below the outer face 20 of the belt 11 in order to provide a barrier to sharp-edged stones or the like cutting into the belt 11.

Abstract
Bande transporteuse (10) à treillis conçue pour être utilisée dans une machine à récolter les pommes de terre et comprenant au moins deux bandes (11) transporteuses dans lesquelles sont encastrées des portions (13) d'extrémité d'une pluralité de tiges (12) montées en travers des bandes de manière parallèle et espacée. Les extrémités (22, 24) des bandes sont dotées de portions (23, 25) mâle et femelle formées dans les bandes, lesquelles comprennent des couches et/ou des cordes (44, 54) élastiques de renforcement s'étendant sur leur longueur. Dans un mode de réalisation, les portions (23, 25) mâle et femelle possèdent une configuration complémentaire en queue d'aronde et les extrémités des cordes de renforcement sont fixées à des éléments (50, 52) de raccord moulés dans les portions mâle et femelle. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, les cordes sont fixées autour des portions (13) d'extrémité des tiges (12) s'étendant à travers des gaines (27, 28) métalliques extérieures montées sur les portions mâle et femelle. Dans une variante de réalisation, deux extrémités (23, 63) mâles de bande sont raccordées par un élément (65) d'acier pourvu de deux portions (66, 67) femelles et des cordes (76) de renforcement placées sur les bandes sont raccordées de façon captive à l'élément d'acier via des tiges (68, 72) de raccordement passant au travers d'ouvertures ménagées dans l'élément d'acier et dans les extrémités (23, 63) de la bande.
