With the rod 24 in the fully retracted position shown in Fig 5, the divider is held stable and effectively rigid in the normally installed position.
  • a similar friction hinge 23' to the hinge 23 is installed at the interconnection between the intermediate panel section 22 and the lower panel section 21, see particularly Fig 6. the hinge 23' is mounted within and along the lower edge of the intermediate panel section 22 as shown.
  • the hinge 23' is comprised of similar component parts to me hinge23 but in this case the rod 24 of hinge 23' is held by the pawl 27 in a partially retracted position with respect to its housing 25 so that a gap E is formed between the panel sections 22 and 21 thereby to allow for downward movement of the panel section 22 as the inertia pins 28 are released in both the hinges 23 and 23' during crash impact.
  • the pivot point of the friction hinge 23 moves from position Vj shown in Figs 5 and 6 through a lower position V2 with respect to an arc of a circle C described around the pivot point V4 of the panel section 22 to the lower panel section 21, to position V3 on that arc.
  • the rod 24 of the hinge 23 sliding out of the housing 25 to its fully retracted position and the rod 24 of the hinge 23' moving into its housing 25 so that the intermediate panel section 22 is able to move freely to its fully forward collapsed position as shown.

Abstract

L'invention concerne une cloison de séparation (9) pour cabine d'avion formée de panneaux (10, 11, 12, 13) assemblés de façon qu'ils puissent pivoter, ladite cloison se montant entre deux rangées de sièges de passager. Un panneau supérieur (10) se fixe au plafond d'une cabine d'avion et un panneau inférieur (12) se fixe au plancher de la cabine. Les panneaux supérieur et inférieur sont montés pivotants sur un panneau intermédiaire, lequel, en position normale, fait face aux passagers assis sur les sièges de la rangée arrière, d'un côté de la cloison de séparation. Au moins une des liaisons pivotantes présente un point de contrainte critique, ce qui confère à la structure, en position normale, une rigidité, cela de sorte que, en cas de crash, le panneau intermédiaire puisse suivre le mouvement des dossiers des sièges de la rangée avant, afin que les têtes des passagers de la rangée arrière ne heurtent pas le panneau intermédiaire de la cloison de séparation et ne se blessent pas. Pour donner au panneau intermédiaire plus de liberté dans son mouvement vers l'avant, la liaison présentant un point de contrainte critique, de préférence entre le panneau intermédiaire et le panneau supérieur, comprend une articulation (18) à friction, extensible, permettant au panneau intermédiaire de s'éloigner du panneau supérieur vers une position de fermeture maximum déterminée par l'extension de l'articulation.
