  • the lowest inner diameter of sleeve 2 marked in figure 2 by letter d serves as the stopping means of the sleeve and as detachment means in association with the structure of the adaptor as will be explained below.
  • the stopping means of sleeve 2 actually comp ⁇ rises two means, i.e. the gradual decrease of inner dia ⁇ meter of sleeve and the further decrease in diameter, resulting from the presence of step 22.

  • Needle 4 has a conical plastic base 11 adapted to be mounted on tip 9.
  • Base 11 has a circurlar outward protrusion 12 at its bottom. It should be noted that needle 4, combined with base 11, is a known disposable sterile needle commonly used.
  • Circular adaptor 3 is a hollow cylinder having an alternating outer diameter and inner contour adapted to be coupled to syringe 1 and needle base 11.
  • Adaptor 3 is placed between and partly around tip 9 of syringe 1 and base 11 of needle 4 and is also embracing the end of hollow barrel 6 adjacent to tip 9.
  • the inner surface area of the adaptor adjacent to needle base 11 has spiral protrusions 24 serving as locking means for needle 4, whereby protrusion 12 is screwed into spiral protrusions 24.
  • the inner diameter 26 of adaptor 3 adjacent to hollow barrel 6 is equal to the outer diameter 27 of hollow barrel 6 at its end adjacent to tip 9, thereby allowing attachment of adaptor 3 to syringe 1 by frictional force.
  • Adaptor 3 is also provided with a round inner opening 25, diameter of which is substantially equal to outer diameter of tip 9, allowing to catch adaptor 3 on tip 9 by frictional force.
  • Adaptor 30 and 40 shown in figures 3 and 4 are hollow cylinders with external and internal curves different from those of adaptor 3 but having similar characteristic, i.e. means for coupling to needle in the form of spiral protrusions 31 and 41 respectively and external diameter 32 and 42 respectively slightly bigger than the external diameter of hollow barrel 6 and slightly smaller or equal to the lower most inner diame ⁇ ter (not shown in figures 3 and 4) of protective sleeve 2.
  • the length of adaptor may vary, as can be seen in the various adaptors shown in figures 2 to 4.
  • Adaptor for concentric syringe as shown in figures 2 and 3 are constructed symmetrically whereas adaptor for excentric syringes are non-symetric as shown in figure 4.
  • adaptor 3 allowing the sliding of sleeve.2 to cover and detach needle 4 from syringe 1, as will be explained hereinbelow, is the outer dimension of adaptor 3, having a diameter 28 slightly larger than the inner diameter d of sleeve 2.
  • the stopping means of the invention serve also as detachment means, allowing to detach needle .4 when covered by sleeve 2 together with adaptor 3 by subsequent longitudinal pull of sleeve 2 whereby the stopping means detach the adaptor from syringe 1, not allowing the adaptor and needle to move forward in the sleeve.
  • syringe 100 is shown prior to use.
  • Syringe barrel 6 is slidably mounted in protective sleeve 2;
  • syringe tip 9 is coaxially mounted in adaptor 3.
  • Covered needle 4 is attached to tip 9 of syringe 1 by a connical base 11 mounted thereon, while adaptor 3 does not obstruct the attachment.
  • Needle cover 5, which is a commonly used cover, is removed just prior to use of syringe, i.e. prior to withdrawing blood from patient, or injecting fluid medicine.
  • the syringe assumes the position shown in figure 5 wherein plunger 7 together with rod 20 may be positioned in any position along barrel 6 according to the function the syringe was used for, i.e. withdrawal of body fluids or injection of medicine.
  • the arrow in figure 5 shows the direction of longitudinal movement of sleeve 2 along hollow barrel 6.
  • Sleeve 2 having the slight connical structure as mentioned above, can slide relatively smoothly along barrel 6 and adaptor 3, the inner surface area of sleeve 2 touching the outer surface of barrel 6 and adaptor 3, up to the position shown in figure 6, wherein the lowermost inner diameter d of sleeve 2 reaches adaptor 3 and is stopped by step 22.
  • Sleeve 2 thus covers needle 4 and protects the handler of the syringe from accidental pricking.

Abstract

Seringue médicale jetable pourvue d'une protection pour le personnel médical contre les piqûres et ayant deux parties supplémentaires: 1) une douille de protection (2) adaptée pour recouvrir l'aiguille (4) après utilisation; 2) un adaptateur (3, 30) à accoupler avec le bout (9) de la seringue et pourvu d'éléments de verrouillage (24, 31, 41) servant à verrouiller l'aiguille (4) dans cet adaptateur. Grâce à cette invention, l'aiguille (4) est recouverte de façon sûre et elle peut être enlevée en toute sécurité après utilisation.
