Definitions
- the subject invention concerns a cleaner comprising a suction nozzle having a movable cleaning disk.
- a suction pipe is interconnected with the suction nozzle and is in communication with a source of suction power.
- the cleaning disk is set in motion by a driving mechanism and is arranged to perform a surface treatment of e.g. floors and similar surfaces.
- Fig. 1 is a perspective explosive view of the cleaner
- Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view through the cleaner
- Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view through a part of the device.
- the cleaner in accordance with the invention com- prises a suction nozzle 1, having a cover 2 and a sealing rim 3 extending circumferentially around said components.
- a joint member 4 interconnects the suction nozzle 1 with a suction pipe 5 which in turn communicates with a source of suction power, not shown.
- a partition wall 6 separates the suction pipe 5 internally into two channels 7 and 8.
- a turbine wheel 10 In the interior of a housing 9 above the suction nozzle 1 a turbine wheel 10 is rotationally mounted for movement about a vertical shaft 11. A cleaning disk 12 is supported on the same shaft 11 underneath the suction nozzle 1 for turning movement about said shaft. On the lower face of the turbine wheel 10 is provided a weight 13, whereby upon rotation of the turbine wheel 10 a vibrational movement is generated with the result that the cleaning disk 12, when co-rotating therewith, will perform an oscillating movement. Cleaning of corner spaces thus is made more efficient.
- the suction nozzle 1 At its front part the suction nozzle 1 is provided with the number of suction apertures 14. Through these apertures 14 dust and dirt are sucked into the cleaner. Air inlets 15 are provided in the cover 2 through which air is sucked in to drive the turbine wheel 10.
- a control mechanism in accordance with prior art is provided to allow the cleaner to be reset from an operational position for suction through channel 7 to suction through channel 8 and vice versa. When the control mechanism is set in position for suction through channel 7 the air will be sucked-in through the air inlets 15, flow past the turbine blades 16 on the turbine wheel 10, through a centrally located opening 17 in the housing 9 and into the channel 7, as illustrated by arrows 18 in Fig. 1.
- control mechanism When the control mechanism is set in position for suction through channel 8 air will instead be sucked- in through the apertures 14 and flow around the turbine housing 9, as illustrated by black arrows 19, upwards through the channel 8. In this position the turbine wheel 10 and the cleaning disk 12 are immobile.
- Control means 20 are provided adjacent the air inlets 15 in the cover 2 by means of which the direction of the suction air towards the blades 16 of the turbine 10 may be changed and thus the speed of rotation of the turbine wheel be regulated.
- the cleaner in accordance with the invention has a very simple structure while at the same time it is extremely versatile. For instance it may be used for simple suction cleaning as well as for scrubbing and scouring flooring of various kinds. Owing to the posi- bility of regulating the speed of the turbine wheel 10 it is possible, at all times, to adjust the speed of the oscillatory movement of the cleaning disk 12 in dependence of the type of cleaning disk 12 that is being used as well as of the type of flooring to be cleaned.
- the suction nozzle 1 may have a different shape from that shown and this goes also for the configuration and arrangement of the air intakes 15 and the control means 20.
