Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a sight guide to be used in playing golf in order to control either the correct golfer's position and the alignment of the golf club with the trajectory or path followed by the ball to follow fairway or to reach the desired target, green or hole, or any horizontal shift of the golfer's head during the swing, said sight guide consisting of a plurality of lines marked on eyeglass lenses and comprising two parallel lines forming a rail on both lenses and three lines perpendicular to the former and marked on only one lens.
  • the present invention relates to an improvement and a development of the object of the above mentioned Patent Applications and provides a sight guide allowing both a static and a dynamic control to be accomplished.
  • the object of the invention is to control both that golfer's body keep its general attitude, i.e. golfer's head remains steady and body cross-plane is parallel to the plane of the trajectory followed by the ball to reach the desired point, and that the trajectory followed by the golf club head during the swing, i.e. moving away from and to the ball, lies in the above mentioned plane of the trajectory followed by the ball.
  • said plane containing the trajectory followed by the golf club will also contain consequently the trajectory of the ball because such plane is made coincident with the vertical plane passing through the ball and the target, the ball itself will follow the correct trajectory which will not be insiede nor outside the above mentioned plane.

  • Fig. 3 shows the lenses of Fig. 2 from the outside
  • Fig. 4 shows schematically the practical use of the sight guide in accordance with the invention illustrating the position of the golfer's feet, the position of the ball and three different trajectories of the golf club, i.e. a correct, central trajectory and outer and inner trajectories, respectively.
  • Figs. 1 to 3 two parallel lines which are formed as straight segments 12A and 13A on lens 10A and segments 12B and 13B on lens 10B, respectively, are marked on said lens 10A, 10B of eyeglass 11, said segments being aligned with each other as shown.
  • Marked on lens 10A is a further straight segment 14 disposed between segments 12A and 13A and perpendicular thereto, and two parallel, spaced away segments 15 and 16 are perpendicular to segment 13A and disposed outside said segment with respect to segment 14.
  • the tips of the left and right feet PS and PD should be tangent to lower line 12, and ball PL should be located at the outer angle formed by segment 14 with lower line 12, thus causing such line to be the continuation of the line connecting ball PL to the "target".
  • the "target” of the ball can be the median line of the fairway, the green or the hole according to whether it is a matter of a drive or a putting.
  • the stroke is then executed by swinging away the head TS of the golf club from ball PL during the upward movement along trajectory TR shown with solid line, and then by approaching again the ball during the downward movement of the golf club along the same trajectory TR.
  • trajectory TR is exactly parallel to both lines 12 and 13. Therefore ball PL will follow the direction of arrow FR in turn parallel to lines 12 and 13 and then the imaginary line to the "target". As a result, ball PL will reach the desired target without any right or left deviations.
  • Fig. 4 there is also shown the control of the correctness of the initial movement of the golf club by means of the sight guide of the invention. As it is known to the golf professionals this movement is of fundamental importance, especially as far as the first thirty centimeters is concerned.
  • Fig. 4 there are also shown two dashed lines representing the two wrong trajectories of head TS of the golf club, i.e. inner trajectory TI and outer trajectory TE, which cause the corresponding wrong trajectories of ball PL indicated by arrows FI and FE, respectively.
  • Parallel lines 15 and 16 aid the golfer in keeping his head steady, i.e. without any movement with respect to the initial position before the swing.
  • the sight guide of the invention is a very effective means to aid any golfer, beginner, amateur or professional in correctly setting up both his position and the movement of his head and the golf club.
  • This sight guide allows the golfer to self-correct his position in real time, thus avoiding or reducing to a minimum the heretofore usual practice, i.e. shooting the stroke by a telecamera and correcting any wrong position or movement after the shot being projected.
