  • a drive wheel 2 carried within the steering frame 24 is powered through reduction drive 26 from an electric motor 27 also mounted to t steering frame 24.
  • the vertical position of the drive wheel 25 relative to the support wheels 17 and the stabilizer wheels 20 is adjusted to leave a clearance of about twelve millimetres between the stabilizer wheels and a flat plane 30 engaging the drive wheel 25 and the support wheels 17. This ensures that, on level ground, all the weight of the front portion of the transport apparatus 10 is applied to the drive wheel 25 to enhance traction, while the transport apparatus 10 cannot rotate more than a small angle about an overturning axis before contact occurs between the ground and an stabilizer wheel 20, preventing further rotation.

  • a brake lever 44 operates an eccentric circular cam 45 to urge a brake plate 46 into engagement with a support wheel 17 to immobilise the transport apparatus 10 as desired.

Abstract

L'appareil de transport décrit (10) comprend un châssis arrière (11) et un châssis avant (12). Une paire de roues de support (17) est montée de façon à tourner autour d'un axe transversal commun à l'arrière du châssis arrière (12) et une paire de supports de roues stabilisatrices (20) s'étend vers l'avant et vers l'extérieur à partir d'un tube central (13) et sert à soutenir les roues stabilisatrices (21) dans des organes porte-roues à chasse de direction (22). Le châssis avant (11) comporte un palier de direction verticale (23) dans lequel est soutenu un châssis de direction (24). Une roue motrice (25) soutenue à l'intérieur du châssis de direction (24) est mue par un entraînement réducteur (26) à partir d'un moteur électrique (27) également monté sur le châssis de direction (24). Au niveau du sol, tout le poids de la partie avant de l'appareil de transport (10) s'applique sur la roue motrice (25) de façon à améliorer la traction, tandis que l'appareil de transport (10) ne peut pas tourner au-delà d'un petit angle autour d'un axe de renversement avant qu'une roue stabilisatrice (21) n'entre en contact avec le sol, empêchant ainsi toute rotation ultérieure.
