Abstract

Est décrit un procédé pour détecter des pertes dans un réseau de fibres optiques ramifiées comprenant une première fibre optique (1) et une pluralité de deuxièmes fibres optiques (3) dont chacune est couplée à la première fibre optique. La première fibre optique (1) constitue une ligne principale et les deuxièmes fibres optiques (3) constituent des dérivations. Un réflecteur respectif (5) est associé à chacune des dérivations (3). Le procédé consiste à émettre une impulsion dans la ligne principale (1) et à observer dans cette dernière les variations d'atténuation des signaux réfléchis renvoyés par les réflecteurs (5).
