Abstract

Un appareil de contrôle de la glycémie comprend; (a) un guide d'onde de réflexion interne totale comportant une âme et un gainage réfléchissant, au moins une partie de l'âme étant dépourvue d'un tel gainage, (b) une source de lumière (telle qu'un laser) optiquement couplée à une extrémité du guide d'ondes, (c) un détecteur de lumière agencé pour produire un signal représentant la quantité de lumière transmise à partir de ladite source de lumière par le guide d'ondes au-delà de la partie non gainée, et (d) un dispositif d'administration d'insuline tel que l'insuline est administrée à un patient lorsque la quantité de lumière détectée par le détecteur varie de plus d'une valeur prédéterminée.
