Abstract

A device for applying on the body a saturated alum solution has a flask (1) which contains, besides the saturated alum solution (2), a reserve of undissolved alum (3) which ensures permanent saturation of the solution. A duct (4) provided with a filter (6) conveys the solution to a vaporizer (5) screwed on the top of the chamber. Since the saturation point of the alum solution varies with temperature, this device is most efficient when used to apply a deodorant: efficiency is proportional to temperature. In addition, when the solution is finished, the chamber can simply be filled with a solvent, preferably water, to dissolve the alum crystals until the saturation point is reached. Since the device can easily be recharged at no cost, it can be very small.

Description

APPAREIL POUR L'APPLICATION D'UNE SOLUTION D'ALUN APPARATUS FOR APPLYING AN ALUN SOLUTION
DOMAINE TECHNIQUETECHNICAL AREA
The invention described here relates to the field of devices intended for applying solutions to the skin, essentially as a deodorant.
TECHNIQUE ANTERIEUREPRIOR ART
In industry, alum is used in a wide variety of fields, especially in cosmetics. In this area, it is used as an astringent, facial toner, or even deodorant. For example, powders containing 10 to 20% alum are known (Janistyn, Handbuch der Kos eti a und Riechstoffe, Heidelberg, 1978, p. 71). Alum is also used as a deodorant in the form of blocks which are passed over the skin after moistening.
Deodorants in the form of blocks have the disadvantage of not being able to be administered to any time. For example, it is hardly possible for a motorist to cool off with a block before getting out of his car, because he does not have water. In addition, the block of alum does not deposit on the body than the amount of alum that has been dissolved during the time of the underarm friction. This friction lasting only a few seconds, the alum saturation of the water deposited under the armpits is not reached. As for deodorants in liquid form, they have the disadvantage of being fairly quickly exhausted and require frequent recharging.
A container of modest size, capable of being easily carried in a pocket, must therefore be replaced or reloaded frequently, which requires the presence of a distribution point and frequent purchases.
EXPOSE DE L'INVENTIONSTATEMENT OF THE INVENTION
The present invention aims to provide an apparatus which overcomes such drawbacks.
It therefore mainly aims to provide a device for the application of an alum solution which allows an application at any time and which guarantees a maximum concentration of the solution.
It also aims to provide a device which can be presented in a low volume, which allows recharging at low cost and without the need for a point of sale.
L'invention est définie dans les revendications. The invention is defined in the claims.
The apparatus comprises at least one chamber including a solution saturated with alum and means making it possible to remove the solution from the chamber to apply it to the body; it is characterized in that the chamber also contains a reserve of undissolved alum in an amount such that it is capable of maintaining the saturation of the solution at any temperature.
The solution being saturated, the effect of the deodorant is maximum. Indeed, the maximum solubility of alum, like that of all salts, varies with temperature. For example, 100 grams of water at a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius dissolves 12.03 grams of alum, while they dissolve 18.5 grams of alum at 30 degrees and 25 grams at 40 degrees (Chenue Lexikon, Prof. Dr. Hermann Rômpp). Due to the presence in the solution of undissolved alum crystals, the degree of concentration of the solution increases with temperature. In fact, the crystals partially dissolve when the temperature rises and the saturation point rises.
Mainly intended for the use of body deodorant, the device according to the invention guarantees an application in active agents which is variable and proportional to the ambient temperature, and consequently a variable deodorant effect. If we consider a normal room temperature of 20 degrees, the user will find a considerable advantage in having a deodorant which is more effective at times when it is particularly necessary, for example in hot climates. Even if it is packaged in Switzerland, for example, the device manufactured according to the invention will have a greater deodorizing effect on a user domiciled in Brazil than on a user domiciled in Norway.
The present invention also guarantees maximum efficiency in all seasons. The present invention also makes it possible to simplify and reduce the cost of recharging. Indeed, the active agents are in the concentrated state and not dissolved in the bottle: when the liquid is exhausted, it suffices to open the chamber, for example by unscrewing the spray bottle (if the means allowing the solution to come out of the chamber to apply it to the body consists of a spray) and fill it with solvent; the solvent preferably being water, recharging can easily be done anywhere. The alum crystals dissolve in the water thus introduced until the solution is saturated. The volume of undissolved alum therefore decreases with each refill.
The specific weight of the alum being 1.75 and the maximum solubility of 12.03 grams in 100 grams of water, one can easily reduce by 80% the dimension of the room containing the deodorant compared to an ordinary deodorant in spray.
Since water is generally free, and is found everywhere, recharging the device does not involve any expense and requires no special research. There is therefore no disadvantage in giving the device reduced dimensions. Being of modest dimensions, the device can be put in a pocket or a makeup bag, and it will be possible to easily give it an aesthetic form. The vaporizer also allows use anywhere.
The effect being always at its maximum point, and the use being able to intervene at any time and as frequently as desired, it is not necessary to add to the solution a perfume intended to cover the smell of perspiration, as in other liquid deodorants. Such an addition is all the less desirable since the alum is hypo-allergenic and the fragrances are generally not.
DESCRIPTION SOMMAIRE DU DESSINThe alum crystals have an opaque appearance in the air due to the flowering. This opacity disappears in the object of the invention device, because the crystals are immersed in a liquid. The disappearance of efflorescence offers a happy and unexpected aesthetic effect, which also constitutes a considerable advantage, the device according to the invention being intended for cosmetic use where aesthetics play a non-negligible role. SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING
The drawing, which represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the invention, is a vertical section showing an apparatus according to the invention.
MANIERE DE REALISER L'INVENTIONMANNER OF CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
The device consists of a sealed chamber 1, the walls of which are preferably made of glass. In the chamber is enclosed a liquid 2, which is a saturated solution of alum. The solvent is preferably water.
In this solution bathe undissolved alum 3 crystals. A conduit 4, connected to a vaporizer 5 screwed to the top of the chamber, plunges into the solution. Its lower end has a filter 6. In another embodiment, not shown here, the lower end is simply provided with a plurality of orifices, in the manner of a watering can or shower head. In another still simplified embodiment, which is not shown either, the duct simply has an orifice, without filter or apple. The filter 6 is intended to prevent crystals of too large a diameter from passing through the vaporizer.
The best way to realize the invention is that which is . shown in the drawing.
POSSIBILITES D'APPLICATION INDUSTRIELLEPOSSIBILITIES OF INDUSTRIAL APPLICATION
