Definitions
- the present invention relates to a rail suspended hoisting device for handling patients and of the type comprising a number of suspension rollers being located in a profiled suspension rail system which is mounted directly on or in a ceiling, or which being mounted hanging in distance from the ceiling, said hoisting device comprising a winch drum for a hoisting wire or possibly a band-shaped hoisting rope, said winch drum being connected with an electric motor in particular an electric gear-motor being controlled by means of a control box hanging down from the hoisting device.
- rail suspended hoisting devices of this type are used in hospital wards and in nursing homes for severe handicapped and immobile patients, who in connection with the daily nursing requires use of a permanent hoisting device comprising a rail system normally being mounted on the ceiling between beds and sanitary installations - such as bath and toilet.
- the present invention has for its purpose to provide a rail suspended hoisting device of the above mentioned type and by means of which it is possible to obtain a considerable simplification as well in the situation of use as by the installation of such hoisting devices.
- the hoisting device comprises a rechargeable accumulator-battery and in comprising one or more such adapted contact terminals that said accumulator-battery may be connected to a recharging unit via one or more stationary contact terminals mounted adjacent to or direct on the suspension rail system.
- said stationary contact terminals are buildt together with mechanical end stop means as these is provided with socalled jack-plug which is automatically inserted into the contact terminale of the hoisting device when this is conveyed against the end stop means.
- the control box of the hoisting device may be provided with necessary control lamps showing the actual charging condition of the electric accumulator-battery of the hoisting device.
- said stationary contact terminals may be provided with a control lamp indicating that the contact terminals of the hoisting device is in fact proper connected to the recharging system.
- the hoisting device comprises an electric powered driving motor with a frictional pinion cooperating with the suspension rail system
- the driving motor may preferably be placed in a separate housing which as a separate traction unit is adapted to be suspended in the suspension rail system next to the hoisting device and to connect with the later by means of a pulling link as the driving motor is adapted to be supplied with electric power from the accumulator-battery placed in the hoisting device.
- the said separate housing for the driving motor may be provided with a contact terminal being adapted to connect to a charging unit via one or more stationary contact terminals placed adjacent to or on the suspension rail system for recharging of said accumulator-battery.
- the accumulator-battery may be detachably connected with the the hoisting device so that the accumulator-battery may be substituted with a similar but newly recharged accumulator- battery.
- the suspension rail system - as known per see - may comprise a separate system of contact rails for power supplying the hoisting device as well as the driving motor via a system of sliding contacts being permanently in connection with the contact rails.
- a still further alternative system may consist in that said contact terminals may be substituted by short contact rails placed in strategic positions in order to connect the accumulator-battery buildt in in the hoisting device with said recharging unit, when the hoisting device is placed in said strategic positions which may be proper use positions for the hoisting device such as above beds or above bath and toilet installations whereby the necessary capacity of the accumulator-battery may be considerably reduced.
- Fig. 1 is a plane side view - pertly in section - showing an embodiment of the hoisting device according to the invention.
- Fig. 2 a top view showing a nursing ward or section with a rail suspended hoisting device according to the invention
- Fig. 3 is a side view of a preferred embodiment of the hoisting device with a traction unit according go the invention.
- the hoisting devide 2 shown in Fig. 1 is travelling suspended in a suspension rail 4 mounted in the ceiling by means of two double wheel bogies 6 of which the one to the left side is only shown with one suspension wheel or roller 8.
- the wheel bogies 6 are pivotally i relation to the proper hoisting devide 2 so that this may pass through curves and switchs, i. e. that the hoisting device 2 may be travelling along a rather complex suspension rail system 10.
- the housing 12 of the hoisting device 2 comprises a whinch drum 14 for a band-shaped rope (Fig.
- the hoisting device 2 is controlled by means of a hanging down control box 24 and by means of a conventional end stop contact being served by means of a loop 26 which may cooperates with a transverse disk on the hoisting wire 16. This is by means of a hook 28 connected with a lifting yoke 30 in which a lifting sling may be secured (Fig. 3).
- the hoisting device may be provided with an external contact terminal 20 at both ends so that the final orientation of the hoisting device when coupling to the external charging unit becomes independent, i.e. that the personel not all the time need to consider correct shunting with the hoisting device along a very complex suspension rail system 10.
- Fig. 2 shows a such complex suspension rail system 10 by way of example being mounted in the ceiling of a nursing section with more rooms and comprising the necessary sanitary installations.
- a single hosting device 2 according to the invention may be common for the whole nursing section; but of course the shown suspension rail system 10 may also be common for more hoisting devices, which furthermore due to the independence of a hanging cable installation may serve more nursing section of the ward. In practice this means a very considerable relief in the daily work that one is free for the usual hanging cable installation.
- Fig. 1 shows a such complex suspension rail system 10 by way of example being mounted in the ceiling of a nursing section with more rooms and comprising the necessary sanitary installations.
- a single hosting device 2 may be common for the whole nursing section; but of course the shown suspension rail system 10 may also be common for more hoisting devices, which furthermore
- the hoisting device 32 may in this embodiment as required be coupled together with a traction unit 34 comprising an electric driving motor with a frictional pinion being adapted to cooeperate with a plane, wall portion of the suspension rail system 10, i.e. adapted to cause a gentle and smoot travelling with the hoisting device 32 along the suspension rail system 10.
- a control box 36 comprising push buttoms as well for the hoisting movement as for the travelling movement.
- the traction unit or the tractor 34 is supplied with electric power from the accumulator-battery bulidt in in the hoisting device 32 via a plug connection 38 which furthermore makes it possible easy to couple the tractor 34 free from the hoisting device 32 as the pulling connection link between the hoisting device 32 and the tractor 34 is also easy to lift off.
- this has normally not a power supply of its own; but of course may slaso the tractor 34 comprise a build-in power supply and even an independent control box so that the tractor 34 may be travelling around without needing to be connected to a hoisting device 32.
- the tractor 34 may with advantage be provided with such external contact terminals at boths ends and such contact terminals may serve more purposes, namely as well the supply of energy to the travelling motor from the accumulator- battery in the hoisting device 32 and supply of recharging current to the accumulator-battery from an external charging unit as a such supply of recharging current could be effected from quite independent external contact terminals, i.e. irrespective of these being placed on the traction unit 34 or on the hoisting device 32.
- the traction unit 34 as known per see - is adapted to be easily demounted from the suspension rail system 10 so that the traction unit or the tractor 34 easier may be common for more hoisting devices 32 belonging to not suspension-rail-connected nursing sections.
