Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a pump system for placing in explosively dangerous regions on board a tanker comprising two tandem pumps, of which a first pump which is submerged in the cargo in a freight tank, is driven by a hydraulic motor via a short shaft which passes through a pressure medium-controlled drainage chamber, while a second pump which is freely disposed in the explosively dangerous region is driven by an electric motor via a short shaft which passes through a pressure medium-controlled drainage chamber which motor is provided with a surrounding housing through which fluid flows.
