Abstract
A new and distinct variety of Nemesia plant, substantially as herein illustrated and described, characterized particularly as to novelty by its semi-trailing and compact habit, white flowers, a creamy palate, very early flowering and absolutely no seed set.
Description
Latin name of the genus and species of the plant claimed: Nemesia hybrid.
Varietal denomination: ‘Nemhawit’.
The present invention relates to a new and distinct cultivar of Nemesia plant known botanically as Nemesia hybrid and that will be referred to hereinafter by the cultivar name ‘Nemhawit’.
The new Nemesia is a product of a planned breeding program conducted in Enkhuizen, The Netherlands. The new Nemesia cultivar is characterized by a semi-trailing and compact habit, white flowers, a creamy palate, very early flowering and absolutely no seed set.
The new Nemesia originated from a cross-pollination in 1999 of an unpatented Nemesia plant, named ‘A233-1,’ as the female, or seed, parent with an unpatented Nemesia plant named ‘A71-2,’ as the male, or pollen, parent. The cultivar ‘Nemhawit’ was discovered and selected as a plant within the progeny from this cross-pollination in a controlled environment in Enkhuizen, The Netherlands, in 2000.
As a result of this cross the present cultivar was created in 2000 in Enkhuizen, Netherlands and has been repeatedly asexually reproduced by cuttings in Enkhuizen, Netherlands and Sarrians, France over a two year period. It has been found to retain its distinctive characteristics through successive propagations. The new variety is stable and reproduces true to type in successive generations of asexual reproduction.
This new Nemesia plant is illustrated by the accompanying photographic drawing which shows blooms, buds and foliage of the plant in full color, the color shown being as true as can be reasonably obtained by conventional photographic procedures. The plant illustrated in the photographic drawing is a 15 week old plant.
The following detailed descriptions set forth the distinctive characteristic of this new Verbena. The data which defines these characteristics were collected from asexual reproductions carried out in Enkhuizen, Netherlands. The plant history was taken on 14 weeks old plants blossomed under natural light in a greenhouse and grown in a 10.5 cm container.
Color readings were taken in the greenhouse under ambient light. Color references are primarily to the R.H.S. Colour Chart of The Royal Horticultural Society of London.

The commercial name of the most resembling variety is ‘Aromatica White.’ This variety is not known to be patented.
