"tlntell States stent dtiiiiiw. A,
yPHILIP G. BECKLEY, OF'NEWARK, NEW JERSEY.
A Letters Patent No. 98,463, dated January 4, 1870; anti-:dated December 22,' 1869.
The Schedule 'referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the lame.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, PHILIP G. BECKLE'Y, of Newark, in the county of Essex, and in the State of N e`w Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ghilds Chair and Table combined; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof', reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of refer ence marked thereon, making a part of this specifica tion. l
The nature of my invention consists in the combination of a childs play-table and chair, so as to form a dining-chair, as will be hereafter set forth and -described. i,
Figure 1 is a perspective of the table and chair. so arranged as to form a high dining-chair.
Figure 2 is a perspective of the two, placed side by side on the Hoor.
Letter. A represents zur ordinary small chair, used by little children, which has a hook, b, attached to each one of' its front legs, near the bottom.
B is a childs small play-table, which has four re cesses formed in its top, in which the legs of the chair lit, so as to hold it steady, and prevent it from sliding about, and has two staples. c, on top, and two. d. at-
tached to the inner sides of the front legs, which receive the hooks b, on the chair, and thus bind the two firmly together.
When it is desired to form a high dining-chair, so that the child can sit at a large table, the chair A is placed upon the top of the table, and the hooks secured in the staples, and, as the legs of the table are spread further apart than those of a small childs chair, it forms a much safer and more solid one.
When the two are placed side by side, on the Hoor, and fastened together, the child is prevented from either falling from or upsetting the chair, while the table selves to hold itsplaythings.
Having thus described my invention,
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- ,'l1`he combination of the table B, with perforations and staples on its top, with the chair A, .provided wit-h the hooks, as and for the purposes specified.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing, I have hereunto yset my hand, this 11th day of' May, 1869.
