About midway ofthe finger-bar is ztt-tnched a rod or bur, C, which extends tlnough'an aperture in the sidepieee A'.
1n this rod or bnr are holes, in either one of which the pin a muy be placed, thus enabling the -cutting apparatus to be fixed nt :i-ny desired angle.
Inside of the. lframe is a serpentinc-grooved wheel, Il), which is secured to the shaft l), whose bearings are in the sidcpieces A A. This serpentine-grooved wheel is placed on the shaft nein' the side-piece A.

To the lower cross-ber of the i'rnrn'e :tn elbow-lever, E, is pivoted, on the upper end of which is :t frictionroller, d, which lits into the groove of the wheel D, and its other end is connected to the cutting-ban' F, by means of eJ rod, e.
Secured vto the side-pieces A A', is n guard, G, which extends around boel; ot' the grooved wheel D.
H is a, strap, which is secured at the sanne parts of these side-pieces, and is intended to pass around the back of the operator, 11e being between it :ind the guard G. This strap is ,made Iadj ustable by ineens of ai buckle or other convenient fastening.
v At the upper endsotthe side-pieees A A isnJ strap, I, by Ineens of which the machine is suspended from theneck and shoulders of the operator.
