Letters Patent No. 96,675, dated November 9, 1869.-
IMPROVED WEATHER-STRIP.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and. making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, GEORGE W. (microns and Enos HOOVER, citizens of the county of Clinton, in the State of Indiana, have invented a new and improved WVeathcr-Strip; and we hereby declare'that the following is a full and exact description thereof,
reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
Onr invention relates to that class of door-strips which will close down tightly upon the sill of the doorfiame when the door is closed, and without exposing to view thehnechanical arrangement by which the sameis accomplished, and consists in the arrangement of the devices as hereinafter described.
To enable others skilled in the art to understand and use our invention, we will proceed to describe the manner in which we have carried it out.
A B are two strips of wood,-joincd nearly at right angles, with an interposed strip of rubber, or other elastic material, and secured by rebate and tacks.
\Vhen A is secured to the bottom of the door, as shown in Figure 1, the strip B projects almost horizontally, or at right angles therefrom.
From the centre of the outer edge of strip B, extends the rod 0, which is secured at one end to the strip B, and, at the other end, to the bent lever 1).
This bent or inclined lever b is secured to strip A,
by screw or rivet, and is secured at one end to 'the arm or rod 0, while the opposite end is bevelled to fit the inclined head of the slide a. J
This slide is provided with an inclinedarrow-head,
which, working under the bevelled end of the lever," forces up the lever, and, consequently, draws down the arm 0, and, with it, the strip B. I
The arm of the slide a is secured by staples along the under side of strip A, and, when the door is open,
What we claim as our invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination and arrangement of the arm 0,
lever b, and slide a, with its inclined head, when applied to strips A B, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
