EDWARD DITHRIDGE, OF PITTSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA.-
LAMP-CHIMNEY.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 95,667, dated October 12, 1869.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD DITHRIDGE, of Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Lamp-Chimneys; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 represents a central vertical section of my lamp-chimney. Fig. 2 is'a side elevation of the same.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction of a lamp-chimney, the base of which is rounded and welted in the manner set forth.
A represents the form of my chimney, and B the welt around the base.
The welt B is formed by reheating that portion of said chimney and doubling it over so as to form said welt; By this process the base of the chimney is made thicker, and thereby its strength is increased, and it is less liable to chip off than the base of chimneys of the ordinary construction. Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent as a new article of manufacture, is-
The within described lamp -chimney, its lower end or base being turned over and welted, substantially as set forth.
