IMPROVEMENT IN PRUNING-SHEARS The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

To all 'whom it @my concern:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM RICHAR'D, of Clyde, in the county of Sandusky, and State 0f Ohio, have invented certain 'new and useful Improvements in Pruning-Knives; and I do 'hereby declare that the iollowing is a full, clear, and exact description thereof,

To enable others skilled in the art to-which my in vent-ion appertains, to make and use the same, I will now describe. its construction and operation.

In the accompanying drawing- A represents a convex blade, and B, a similar concave blade. The bladeA is formed', on its shoulder, with the slot Q, through whiehis passed a pin, the lower end .being secured-to Vthe blade B', as seen in the drawing.

D represents a lever, one end of which is attached to the blade B, and the other end attached or pivoted to the lower end of the blade A. v

F and Pare the handles, which are pivoted together near 4their centres, and each end pivoted to thel lower ends of the blades A and B.

E represents a hook, formed on the blade A. This book ismade sharp on its lower side,'and is used to cut od' small branches.

By this rarrangement ofmy pruning-knife, I` gain four times more power than in any pruning-knife yet invented.

Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is y The slotted blade A, pivoted to the blade B, and provided with hook E,.in combination with lever D and handles P and F, substantially in the manner and for the purpose described.
